Is this £20m wing-wizard a perfect fit for Liverpool?

Juan CuadradoLiverpool are slap-bang in the middle of a full-on title tilt, so it may be difficult to focus on transfer tittle-tattle, but we’ll persevere nonetheless. This is the future of the club we’re talking about after all. If Brendan Rodgers makes a few good decisions in the summer transfer market, The Reds may end up being even more successful next season.

With Liverpool strong upfront and in the middle of the park, there are two key areas/positions that Brendan Rodgers will have to assess: his defense and his wingers.

Last summer The Reds agreed a loan deal with Chelsea for Victor Moses. His impact has been minimal. This season he has made 19 appearances and scored 2 goals. I’m sure Brendan Rodgers will have been hoping for a bit more.

Raheem Sterling aside, Liverpool just don’t have enough spark in this area of the pitch. This is surely why The Mirror recently linked The Reds to Colombian winger Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.

The 25-year-old is currently part-owned by two Serie A clubs: Fiorentina (where he currently plays) and Udinese. As such, any potential negotiations for the player could end up getting rather complicated. Still, the aforementioned source claims that £20m should be enough to close any potential deal.

This strikes me as very exciting news indeed. Cuadrado is right in the middle of the most effective season of his career. He’s made 38 appearances for Fiorentina and has found the back of the net 11 times. He seems to be entering his peak – what better time to snap him up?

Beyond his goals, Cuadrado is known for his pace, his dribbling ability and his direct running. He’s been a real threat in Serie A since 2010 and I’d say he’s about ready for a new challenge. In fact, he strikes me as a player who’s custom built for success in the Premier League.

I’d certainly like to see him get a shot. Make it happen Brendan – next season’s success could depend on it!

What’s your take? Would Juan Cuadrado be a good option for The Reds? Should they be looking at more affordable players? Who else would be on your transfer wish-list?
