Sebastian JungAfter a mixed bag of a season for The Gunners, the summer is sure to bring with it a fair amount of activity.

The club will certainly need to look at bringing in a replacement for Bacary Sagna. The French left-back is in the final year of his Arsenal contract and it doesn’t look like he’s going to sign a new deal.

Unless he has a sudden change of heart, The Gunners are going to find themselves a little bit short in this area of the pitch.

This is why I was interested to see The Metro link Arsenal to Eintracht Frankfurt’s full-back, Sebastian Jung.

The last time that Arsenal signed a German defender, they ended up with Per Mertesacker who has been a revelation for the Gunners. Aside from a few shoddy performances this year, he’s been absolutely fantastic alongside Laurent Koscielny, helping to make Arsenal a better defensive unit.

When it comes to pure organisational nous, diligence and ability, it’s hard to look past the Germans. I can’t help but feel that Sebastian Jung would be a good choice for Arsenal.

What’s more, he won’t break the bank. The aforementioned source suggests that he could be available for as little as £7m. This strikes me as something of a bargain.

The player’s agent recently confirmed Arsenal’s interest. Check out these quotes:

‘In England we know Arsenal are very strongly on his trail for the summer. They have had scouts watching him in the Bundesliga. There was interest in the past from Inter, Roma and Milan, but no recent contact.’

It looks like there’s something to this story after all. Now it’s upto Arsene Wenger to seal the deal. If Arsenal are interested, it’s because he’s on their transfer wish-list and is viewed as a potential replacement for Bacary Sagna.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see who does go on to replace Bacary Sagna. This is a very important decision for The Gunners and I can’t help but feel that Sebastian Jung would be a good choice.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal move in for this Bundesliga ace? What other options should they be considering?
