Are Manchester United set to lose FOUR first-teamers this summer?

|

David MoyesTo say it’s been a tough season for Manchester United would be an understatement. As transitional seasons go, this one sure has dragged on. At times it been painful to watch and it’s quite clear that David Moyes doesn’t really know what to do in order to turn it around.

His main solution thus far seems to have been to throw money at the problem in the transfer market. He’s spent big on Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata, but as of yet they’ve both offered a limited return.

Of course, they could both still come good (especially once they have an entire season in a Manchester United shirt behind them), but it looks like The Red Devils need a little more inspiration if they’re to turn things around.

But alongside bringing new world-class players into the club, David Moyes will also need to spend some time this summer cutting all the deadwood. This season has shown that there are players at Old Trafford who just aren’t worthy of the shirt. The quicker they’re sent packing the better (so long as they are replaced with better options, of course).

That begs the question: who should Manchester United cash in on this summer?

We already know that Nemanja Vidic is off to Inter Milan. Patrice Evra could also leave this summer. Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs could both retire as well. These are players that are going to be tough to replace.

But The Mail also claim that Moyes is willing to ‘listen to good offers’ for Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley, Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez. Is this evidence of a club moving in the right direction?

There’s no easy way to answer this. Manchester United stuck by Fletcher during his convalescence, but can probably find better options in that area of the pitch. Tom Cleverley has been made into Manchester United’s scapegoat this season and would probably benefit from a change of scenery. Shinji Kagawa has been very quiet indeed.

I think Moyes can afford to lose those three. But Javier Hernandez? For my money he’s a better third choice striker than Danny Welbeck. I’ll be sad to see him move on.

The key will be replacing these four with better options in the transfer market. If Moyes pulls this off, Manchester United will come back stronger next season. If he fails, he may well consign the club to mid-table mediocrity. Perish the thought.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United really wave goodbye to all these players in the summer?

Players who should leave: young, cleverly, valencia, nani, fellaini, anderson, giggs, welbeck, and lindigard. All these should be replaced and should replace vidic, rio, evra, RVP coz they also may go as vidic has already confirmed.

I believe Kagawa will come good next season. Chicharito needs to stay (he’s that rare breed of striker in world football). The rest can leave.
