It was good to see Manchester United pick up a comprehensive victory at the weekend. Yes, it was only against West Brom, but on so many other occasions this season, The Red Devils have made Premier League small fry look like big fish.
It was only back in September, for instance, that United recorded a 1-2 defeat against West Brom. They’re not out of the woods just yet, but it’s beginning to look like the club is heading in the right direction.
Now it’s up to David Moyes to make sure he keeps motivation levels up, makes brave tactical decisions and helps drive United back up the table. It’ll also be interesting to see who he looks to bring in during the summer transfer window.
Does he trust his current crop of players, or will he look to make a few significant changes? Fans will certainly hope that he selects the latter option. If the papers are to be believed, it looks like he already has.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United have been pursuing Paris Saint Germain’s superstar striker, Edinson Cavani, ‘all season’ and are now ‘confident’ of agreeing a £58m deal in the summer.
If there’s any truth to these claims, then it’s absolutely startling news. If you’ve been keeping track of Cavani’s career over the last half-decade or so, you’ll be well aware of his quality. More than that however, this is the kind of transfer that acts as a signal of intent.
It’s a message to the Chelseas and Manchester Citys of the world: you may have an infinite supply of cash, but we can still compete too.
Given Chelsea’s current lack of options upfront, I’m surprised that their name hasn’t been mentioned in contention with Cavani. Maybe Jose Mourinho is just assuming that there’s no way in hell that PSG will sell one of their most important players.
Since moving to Paris in the summer, Cavani has scored 21 goals in 31 games. Given that he’s playing for a team that uses Zlatan Ibrahimovic as their focal point, these figures are rather impressive.
But I can’t help but wonder: what’s a player like Cavani doing in Ligue 1? This is man who’s better fitted to bigger stages. If United grant him an exit route, I’m hoping he’ll be keen to take it.
Then we just need to hope that PSG think £58m is a fair estimation of his worth.
What’s your take? Can Manchester United really wrap up a deal for this superstar striker?

Maybe he’s the right choice. £58m? Is too high. But no pain no gain for united.
Man u need this very nice guy pls
cavai is not worth that money better to pull rooney forward and have welbeck and lingard on the bech and then spend 60M on moyes contract disable
i very well agree with u.spend d money on sacking moyes n save d club

Start kagawa every game three number 10……Mata Kagawa Rooney..RVP up top
Wellbeck back up but give Chicharito p;lay time with these three 10’s………januzaj bring in often for experience and guidleines from these top four…then see how the midfiled can supply these by playing football..not hoofball
add to that people like nani, Anderson………….they all outplay.outhink most players and teams……….these people need exciting football……add the energy at the back rafael…….and..midfield Carrick has to be replaced slowly Fletcher still needed Rio to keep the dressing room history and balance……then Powell lindgard and see then who needs to come in…….in what positions
Although united need players, but d money is too high for cavani.
I tink he wil do sumtin 4 united bt de money is too much… Moyes pls use kagawa, mata, rooney and chicharito or RVP upfront
If this is true then its bye bye robin. And unfortunately the end of kagawas UTD career
Get cavani for, u can still livin rvp,
He’s(Cavani) a prolific striker, I think united should go all out to bring him to Old Trafford
Get cavani before world cup.please moyes
