Can Manchester United really pull off this £30m double-deal?

Adam Lallana 2Manchester United are set to experience a lot of change in the summer. After the season from hell, deadwood will be cut loose and the club will use its financial might in an attempt to steady the ship. In other words, world class players will be brought in and David Moyes will attempt to re-build his team from the bottom up.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Manchester United are in the market for Southampton starlets, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana (can you still be considered a starlet if you’re 25-years-old?).

This in and of itself is hardly ground-breaking news. Manchester United have been linked to this dynamic duo for quite some time.

It’s the price-tags that The Mirror attribute to the two players that are most shocking. The source suggest that David Moyes is preparing a £30m bid for this pairing. Surely this wildly underestimates Southampton’s evaluation of both players? I’m sure the Saints feel that Lallana is worth £30m alone.

You get the feeling that The Red Devils will have to go in significantly higher in order to make a deal happen. Still, it’s exciting to see the club get linked to the best of British talent once more. Especially when they’re both young players, simply oozing with potential and quality.

Luke Shaw made his England bow recently and didn’t put a foot out of place. It would surprise very few were he to go to Brazil this summer for the World Cup and he certainly deserves the increased exposure he’s received this season.

Then there’s Adam Lallana, who must be one of England’s best technical talents for quite some time. The boy is quite simply a natural footballer, with a sublime touch, excellent close control and a flair for exciting attacking football. I can only imagine the results were he to play alongside pass master Juan Mata.

The quality of these players is the reason why £30m is a laughable price-tag for this Southampton pairing. If United want to buy quality footballers like these, they’ll have to break the bank. All we can do now is wait and see if David Moyes has the chutzpah to pull it off.

What’s your take? Can Manchester United pull off a deal for Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana?

Man U are a big club that should not waste time & must get their targets with or without competition from other clubs rather see us fed on rumours, most of which do not come to fruition.
