Alberto MorenoIt’s a good time to be a Liverpool fan isn’t it? After years in the footballing wilderness, Brendan Rodgers has picked up a map and compass and guided the club back into the big time. The Reds truly are a force to be reckoned with once again and it’s been extremely entertaining to watch.

Pundits haven’t held back when it comes to offering compliments about Liverpool’s free-flowing attacking football. Now it’s time to start going after silverware.

Whilst Liverpool are in the race for the Premier League title, I can’t help but feel that it’s Manchester City’s year this time round. But if Brendan Rodgers invests wisely in the summer and comes back even stronger, then there’s no reason why Liverpool can’t achieve ‘Champion’ status next year.

With Brendan Rodgers pulling the strings in the transfer market, this is even more likely.

The Express recently published an article linking Liverpool to Manchester United target, Alberto Moreno. The Spanish ace, who currently plays for Sevilla, has been making plenty of waves in La Liga, despite being just 21-years-old. He’s even managed to accrue a £15m price-tag.

The fleet-footed left-back is known for his attacking flair, but he’s also quick to recover, make his way down the flanks and perform his defensive duties. He’s still got some learning to do, but I’d be pretty happy to see him develop and grow at Anfield.

It certainly looks as though a deal is possible. Check out these quotes from Sevilla president, Pepe Castro, from the aforementioned source:

“Last Decemeber we rejected an important offer from a Premier League side for Alberto Moreno. There are many clubs tracking him weekly. In December we understood that it was not the right moment to sell him. But if we received a very good offer for him we will consider his exit.”

“I believe that he is young and he is going to have a very successful career. And I hope he stays at Sevilla but if we received an amazing offer he will leave.”

He’s not mincing his words here, is he? He’s basically fluttering his eyelids at other clubs, drawing attention to his player and trying to drive up his price-tag.

Here’s hoping that The Reds answer his ‘come-get-him’ plea. I think Alberto Moreno would make an excellent addition to this very exciting squad.

What’s your take? Is Alberto Moreno the right fit for Liverpool?

Nearly every pundit in the UK is saying Liverpool need to win all their remaining games to win the Premiership, but they fail to recognise that City and Chelsea are also in the same boat and they are hardly consistent at present are they?

I’m sure he can make a valuable contribution to a position that needs some attention. He should be a good buy – But the price???
