Should Arsenal be interested in this £15m wing-wizard?

Juan CuadradoA 4-1 drubbing of Sunderland will have done wonders to repair Arsenal’s confidence, following yet another defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Whilst the Gunners did put in yet another good team performance, it’s clear that if they want to compete in Europe, they’ll need to bring in a couple more ready-made, world class players during the summer transfer window.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see who Arsene Wenger targets. He’s got the basis of a fantastic squad. The right additions could make all the difference.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Arsenal are in the hunt for Fiorentina’s wing-wizard, Juan Cuadrado. The £15m rated winger has been blazing a trail in Serie A and looks to be ready for a move to a big club.

He’s actually part-owned by both Fiorentina and Udinese, which will make any deal for the player somewhat complex. The Metro suggest that Arsenal are waiting to see if Fiorentina will buy the player outright, before moving in with an offer of their own. Doesn’t that just sound like quintessential Arsene?

He’s earned a reputation for his exuberant celebrations (they usually consist of some neatly choreographed dance routine), and he’s had a opportunity to strut his stuff seven times already this season.

That’s a fairly good return, considering he’s thrust out on the wings and has only played 28 games thus far. The Colombian finally seems to be turning into a force in front of goal. This, combined with all his other qualities, makes him a real asset.

He’s also versatile, a quality that Arsene Wenger just loves. He mostly plays as a winger, but can just as easily slot in as a full-back. The Gunners often find themselves short in this area thanks to injury, so his flexibility could be a real boon.

At 25-years-old, this is a player who’s really coming into his own and has started to earn his £15m price tag. With high profile clubs like Bayern Munich also interested, now looks like a good time to make a move. Let’s hope that Arsenal race to the head of the pack.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal move in for Juan Cuadrado, or steer clear of these needlessly complicated deals?
