Would this £15m bid damage David Moyes’ reputation further?

Seamus ColemanIf you believe the newspapers, David Moyes is still obsessed with Everton. He was manager at Goodison Park and if the stories are true, he’s finding it hard to move on. That’s got to be why he continues to get linked to so many Everton players, hasn’t it?

To be fair, he hasn’t helped himself. He signed the former Everton all-rounder, Marouane Fellaini in the summer, when Manchester United didn’t really need him. The big Belgian is a gifted defensive midfielder, who can sometimes be deployed as an emergency striker to good effect. But he wasn’t the player that United needed. He didn’t have the creative impetus that this side currently lacks.

Since signing Fellaini, David Moyes has been strongly linked to two other Everton stars, Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley. Baines is the best left-back in the country and would make a fantastic replacement for the aging Patrice Evra. Barkley, on the other hand, is a talented midfielder, who’s sure to develop into a very special footballer indeed.

As such, it’s easy to see why Moyes is interested in these players. But it’s generally regarded as a bit distasteful to pillage your former club of all it’s most gifted footballers. In that sense, it’s hard not to feel that Everton have got the raw end of the deal here.

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to stop any time soon. According to The Mirror, Moyes is a ‘huge admirer’ of Everton right-back Seamus Coleman and is readying a £15m bid to bring him to Old Trafford.

As Fantasy Football fans will attest, Coleman has been enjoying a fantastic season. He’s defensively astute, strong in the tackle and knows how to position himself. But it’s the offensive side of his game that has come on leaps and bounds in recent seasons.

His crossing has improved, his passing is more accurate and he’s more confident when he’s on the ball. He’s even chipped in with six goals this season. There’s a strong argument to suggest that he’s the best right-back in the country at the moment. Everton are pretty strong in the full-back department, aren’t they?

In this sense, he’d be an excellent signing for Manchester United, if David Moyes is willing to damage his reputation even further.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United make a move for the Everton ace? Or does the club have other priorities?

I think the Manchester United Football Club should consider investing in one of those Academy thingies other teams appear to have

His reputation is shot at Goodison already, this will just increase the vitriol still further.
Can’t wait for them to come to town

Everton have said that no players are leaving but the media cant accept that and need to fill their column inches with something. But to answer your question, yes it would damage his reputation further
