Arturo VidalDespite all the hubbub surrounding Manchester United and Juan Mata, fans will still be hoping that there’s more to come from Manchester United in the transfer market.

After all, this squad is a long way off the pace at the moment. It may take more than one world class player to turn things around.

Take Wednesday night’s League Cup clash against Sunderland for example. The game provided an excellent opportunity for Manchester United to get their season back on track, by putting in a good performance against a relegation threatened team and turning around a first leg defeat.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be, as Manchester United turned in the limpest set of penalties the world has seen for quite some time. It was yet another disappointing result for David Moyes, who must be seriously bemoaning the state of his squad.

Fingers crossed that more signings are on the way.

Here’s the news on that front. The Mirror claims that Manchester United have made contact with Juventus regarding their crafty Chilean, Arturo Vidal. They suggest that Vidal’s low wage-package with the Turin based club could help the Red Devils when it comes to negotiations. United now have a means for luring him away from his current pay-masters.

Having scored 27 goals in 83 appearances for the Serie A club, it’s easy to see why Manchester United are interested. The man is a creative talent, who just so happens to be a real force in front of goal. He could end up being a more effective Shinji Kagawa.

Vidal has picked up a number of personal honours. In 2010, whilst he was playing for Bayer Leverkusen he earned himself a place on the All star Bundesliga team of the year.

During the same year he was crowned ‘Chilean player of the year. But the honours haven’t dried up since. Last year he was crowned Juventus’ player of the year. He even made it onto the South American cover of FIFA 14 (a true honour, I’m sure you’ll agree).

All this points to a player who tends to stand out. I’m sure that a move to Manchester United would only further his career prospects and help him to pick up even more accolades. Here’s hoping this deal goes ahead!

What’s your take? Should Manchester United make a move for this Serie A superstar?
