Can Manchester United close this exciting £25m deal?

Toni KroosAs if signing one big name midfielder wasn’t enough, David Moyes could be set to bamboozle Manchester United fans by signing another one.

After a summer full of disappointments and a start-stop season thus far (to put it politely), perhaps Moyes has finally began to find his feet.

I have no doubt that signing Juan Mata will prove to be a masterstroke. £37.1m is a lot of money, but he’s capable of solving United’s much discussed creativity problem and his signing will weaken Chelsea.

Why Jose Mourinho signed off on this deal, when he wasn’t willing to let Demba Ba (he’s done well this season, hasn’t he?) join Arsenal last summer is beyond me.

But I digress. Let’s get to all the news surrounding Bayern Munich’s dynamic midfield talent Toni Kroos.

I have to say, this is a rumour that’s caught me somewhat off guard, but it’s exciting nonetheless. The Daily Mail recently ran a story that made a number of claims about the German international. Key among these is the suggestion that David Motes is keen on Kroos and that Manchester United have the financial firepower to get a deal done.

The Mail have given the German ace a £25m price-tag and suggested that the player himself is after a £150,000-a-week. If this deal closes, it will wrap up an extremely busy, expensive and exhilarating transfer window for Manchester United. Indeed, the Red Devils are beginning to look like their old selves once more.

There’s even been the suggestion from Bayern boss Pep Guardiola that Kroos could move on soon enough. Check out these quotes that were carried by the aforementioned source:

“He (Kroos) is an important player but things can move fast in football. Here today, gone tomorrow.”

Whilst I’m sure that Pep would like to keep Kroos, he doesn’t seem overly concerned about the possibility of his imminent exit. I guess when you’ve got a midfield that’s as stuffed with talent as Bayern Munich’s, a player like Toni Kroos can get lost in the mix.

But that wouldn’t be the case at Old Trafford. The thought of him playing alongside Juan Mata is enough to get the blood pumping. This is a midfield partnership that would provide Manchester United with the cut and thrust they’ve been lacking.

Finger’s crossed that David Moyes can pull another surprise out of the bag. This one could be the deal that turns United’s entire season around.

What’s your take? Could Toni Kroos be an essential purchase for Manchester United?

Moyes , like SAF, constrained by glazers and woodward due to humongous debt. Without the debt, buying Kroos would be no problem. Maybe SAF could have pay Pogba couple of tens of thousand pounds and Pogba would still be at MU. Crippling debts by glazers and woodward have made MU did some last minute penny wise pound foolish decision.
