Time will tell whether Andre Villas-Boas’ big-money move for Erik Lamela proves to be a success.
From what we’ve seen so far, I can’t help but feel that it was a mistake to spend that much money on a player with limited experience. Whilst the youngster had been tearing things up in Italy, he’s finding things a little difficult in the Premier League.
Whilst he works hard and isn’t afraid to put in a tackle (this was evident against Southampton during the weekend), he’s been severely lacking in end product thus far. He was signed to help Tottenham recover from the loss of Gareth Bale, but he has struggled to provide much of an impact at White Hart Lane.
Of course, the youngster needs time to adjust to his new surroundings and will likely improve as the months roll by. Still, I can’t help but wish that Spurs had targeted a different winger during the summer.
I’m surprised that Tottenham didn’t move in for Real Madrid star, Angel Di Maria. After all, they were already in negotiations with the club regarding the sale of Gareth Bale. Couldn’t a player plus money deal have been proposed? This strikes me as a missed opportunity.
Still, according to The Star, the Argentine ace remains a target for this Spurs side. And now that Tim Sherwood has been given the reins of the club, the January transfer window could be very interesting indeed.
As it happens, Di Maria recently spoke out about his future, showing some frustration about all the speculation. Check out these quotes: “I’m happy at Real Madrid. I have never asked for a (contract) renewal. A player who does not play is not going to ask for a renewal. My head is in Madrid. You (journalists) said that I was going to Tottenham. You know where this information came from.”
Whilst he is keen to emphasise that he is ‘happy’, there does seem to be some discontent there. He hasn’t signed a new contract with the club and he’s admitted that he’s not playing at the moment. If Spurs were to make their interest clear, I wonder if he’d have his head turned?
He can’t be happy playing in the shadow of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. If he moved to Spurs, he’d be the top dog and would surely help fire the club up the Premier League table.
He wouldn’t come cheap, but he would help Tim Sherwood to stamp his mark on this team.
What’s your take? Should Spurs attempt to sign this Real Madrid star?

YES
Another blog writer that is hugely knowledgeable…….after the event!
NO
This is another load of bullshit.
Why would DiMaria join spurs????
Deluded beyond belief!
Bottom line, spurs spent over £100m and didn’t buy a single world Class player. Why? Because NO World Class player would want to join Spurs.
True in some respect but you cannot know spurs history that well, even recent history to this present date , so making a comment about something you have little or no knowledge about will only make you look immature or look like a right Plonker
Fuck u gooner
