Are things about to go from bad to worse for Tottenham in the transfer market?

Kyle WalkerI think it’s fair to say that it hasn’t been a good week for Tottenham football club. It may have begun with their North London rivals, Arsenal, getting a thumping from Manchester City (6-3!), but it ended with Spurs one-upping Arsene Wenger’s side.

Andre Villas-Boas fielded a slow, tired looking Spurs side against a fired-up, Luis Suarez-inspired Liverpool and suffered the consequences. Tottenham ended up losing 5-0 at White Hart Lane. That kind of result is practically unheard of for Spurs. Yes, the red card played a role, but there was only one team in it from the very start.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that Tottenham also received a stuffing from Man City, just a few weeks ago. On that occasion, Spurs were unable to muster up as much attacking flair as Arsenal and lost the game 6-1.

As a result, Andre Villas-Boas was dismissed from his post as Tottenham boss. The result was media-outrage, but I can’t help but feel that Daniel Levy made a fair decision. Villas-Boas was entrusted with a lot of pocket money over the summer and he just hasn’t put it to good use.

He was tasked with replacing Gareth Bale and ended up overloading his midfield with average-to-good players. At the moment, there’s no balance in this team. Spurs need a top-class striker who can provide a regular source of goals.

Unfortunately, there could be yet more bad news on the way.

According to The Mirror, Spurs right-back Kyle Walker has become a target for financial heavy-hitters, Monaco. Walker may only just have signed a deal with Tottenham to keep him at White Hart Lane until 2019, but could he have his head turned when he sees how much the Ligue 1 club are willing to pay him?

He’s a fully fledged England international, one of Tottenham’s best and most consistent performers and one of the few top right-backs in the Premier League. It would be a real shame to lose him – not least because it’s difficult to know who could replace him.

At 23-years-old, Walker has a big future ahead of him. I very much hope that he gets to spend many of the coming years in a Tottenham shirt.

What’s your take? Should Spurs fight hard to keep hold of Kyle Walker or can they afford to let him go?

it was man city 6 spurs 0, not 6-1, unless of course they were playing the invisible man upfront.

Let him go. He is a liability, remember 2-0 up at Liverpool…….. Another Champions League dream down the drain!!!!!
    Terrible defender & headless chicken.
Get rid of Walker Naughton Dawson for starters. Make it CLEAR to Defoe that if he is happy to stay on the bench until 10-15 mins to go each game when everyone is tired then stay, if not GO!!!!!!
Bale is a git too, has anyine seen any quote from him since he left, thanking the club or fans – if so please share as I am so disappointed he hasnt shown us any respect & now he is piping up saying he was a one man team at Spurs & chooses this week to kick us when we are already at a low point. Thanks Bale…..
Oh yeh thanks Harry for not taking Suarez because you didn’t rate him!!!!!!!
