Soccer: Juventus' friendly matchIt’ll be interesting to see how Arsenal react to their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, when Premier League action resumes after the International break. Will they dust themselves off and go back to winning ways, or will their title charge begin to fall apart?

Their next game against third place Southampton is a real tester. The Gunners are going to have to be at their best to get a result.

Suffice to say, in a couple of weeks time, Arsenal fans could be looking towards the January transfer window with lustful abandon. It’s already clear enough that Arsenal need to sign a striker. By Janury, however, that need may have reached desperate new levels.

This raises the question: who should Arsene Wenger look to bring in when the transfer window re-opens?

How about unhappy Juventus star Fernando Llorente? The big bulky Spaniard was seriously impressive whilst wearing an Athletic Bilbao shirt, but things have begun to fall apart for him since his move to Turin.

He was a free transfer for Juve, who have treated him as such. He’s current behind Carlos Tevez in the pecking order and is struggling for game time. Check out these quotes from the man himself:

“I had problems in settling and adapting to new methods of training. I was not used to so much work and my body was not right. I started to have doubts about my decision to join Juventus, about me and about everything. I felt bad.” (Source: The Star)

It’s thought that he could cost Arsenal as much as £15m. That’s a fair amount of money for a player who has seen his career suffer over the last season or so. But given how well he played back in Spain, I’d say he’s worth a gamble.

One thing’s for sure: Llorente has the physique and presence to make an impact in the Premier League.

Whoever Arsene Wenger picks, I hope he’s already starting to do the leg work now. The sooner that the Gunners are able to sign somebody to provide Olivier Giroud with a bit of support, the better. Let’s hope that come January 1st, Arsenal are ready to lodge a bid.

What’s your take? Would Fernando Llorente be a good addition to this Arsenal squad? Is he too similar to Olivier Giroud?
