Robert LewandowskiThus far this season most people have been fairly non-committal when it comes to Arsenal’s title challenging credentials. This kind of attitude is taken for granted when it comes from pundits and arm chair warriors. What’s surprising is the lack of confidence that’s currently emanating from Arsenal fans.

It seems that the fans have been burnt too many times before.

But surely it’s time to start believing? Arsenal are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League table. What more does it take to make you a title-challenger?

How about the fact that they just turned over Liverpool, who are currently third in the League? Arsenal have taken on big clubs this season and have on most occasions (Tottenham, Napoli and Liverpool) come up trumps. This side look ready to nab some silverware.

But that’s not to say that they don’t need some reinforcements. Because they do. In fact, the need is rather desperate.

It’s lucky that Arsenal’s first team took the wind out of Liverpool’s sails. Because looking at the bench for that game, there were no real ‘game-changers’. There was nobody who could come in and do a job.

That’s what Arsene Wenger needs to rectify in the January transfer window. Most importantly, he needs to bring in another striker.

As it happens, the Gunners have had a bit of luck on that front.

The Star claim that Manchester United have dropped out of the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski. As a result, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all in pole position to sign him.

Whilst City and Chelsea have the financial muscle to force Arsenal out, it’s thought that Dortmund could be willing to sell for as little as £7m. That’s a tiny fee for a player of such quality.

His Dortmund contract is up at the end of the season. The Bundesliga side are looking to cash in whilst they still can.

With Arsenal currently in ascendance, Lewandowski may fancy a move to North London. He may also fancy playing under Arsene Wenger, rather than Manuel Pellegrini (whose reputation isn’t quite the same) or Jose Mourinho (an egoist who doesn’t have his players best interest at heart).

There’s a real opportunity here for Arsenal to sign a top player. A player who could lead them to Premier League glory. Let’s hope that Arsene Wenger is ready to make it happen.

What’s your take? Should the Gunners battle it out with Manchester City and Chelsea for Robert Lewandowski?

    HE’S GOING TO BAYERN MUNICH.

Everyone in Poland knows it. Everyone in Germany knows it. Yet you EPL fanboys still continue to flog this dead horse of a story. He’s going to Bayern Munich, done and dusted. Can’t wait till January so that these fanboys can finally be quiet about this story and believe some other stupid rumor

Yes, indeed we should. Lewy’s a clinical scorer no matter who hes up against. Thats a type of player every squad craves.

The problem is that che need him as much as we do, replacing drogba etc. Lets just hope that our Polish and German Gunners will give us an edge, also we must offer a mega signing on fee with Ozils wage amount.

This guy would surely be a missing jigsaw piece of a crown jewel.
