Should Manchester United really be swooping in for Moussa Dembele?

Moussa Dembele FulhamThere’s no telling just how important Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal will be over the course of this season. One thing’s for sure, it’s thrown David Moyes’ side right back into contention.

After United’s slow start, it had begun to look as though the club wouldn’t be able to defend its Champion status. Poor results against rivals like Liverpool and minnows like West Brom will have cast doubt into the minds of players and fans alike.

Luckily, things have since picked up. They’ve won five out of their last seven and have drew the other two games. They certainly seem to have put their losing streak to bed.

Arsenal represented the biggest challenge they have faced yet this season. But United looked more fired up, more competitive and more dangerous moving forward. Wayne Rooney, in particular, was sensational.

So things are looking up once more. I can’t help but feel that if David Moyes works some transfer magic, he can help pull the club back into contention for silverware.

As such, I was particularly interested to see Manchester United pick up a link to Fulham wonderkid Moussa Dembele. Now I’m sure this story, found originally in The Mirror, will have had many fans scratching their heads. After all, isn’t Dembele a Tottenham player?

Well yes, but the story actually refers to a 17-year-old wonderkid, who’s making waves with the Cottagers and just so happens to share a name with Tottenham’s Belgian ace.

He caught United’s eye a couple of weeks back, in a game between Fulham’s U21s and Manchester United’s U21s. He scored a goal during the 2-2 draw and impressed with his all round play in front of United coaches Phil Neville and Nicky Butt.

What stands out most is that the youngster was compared to former Chelsea star, Didier Drogba. Let’s not forget the young lad is just seventeen (indeed, his birthday is in July). For him to be so stocky, powerful and direct at such a young age is rather remarkable indeed. He’s definitely worth keeping your eye on.

Whilst he’s never going to come in and replace the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie, he may be able to break into the first team in the coming years.

But United shouldn’t wait. Now’s the time to move in for him, before his price-tag becomes over inflated. He may not be the most exciting signing Moyes could make this January, but any potential deal could pay off big time in the future.

What’s your take? Should United move in for Fulham’s Moussa Dembele?

Manu dont need average player signing especially those that can’t compete in europe . Manu should be tending towards regaining the european glory . A mid field destroyer a no nonsense defender . Buy a holding midfielder left back etc
