Could this double deal be just what Liverpool need?

Mohamed SalahThings couldn’t really be going much better for Brendan Rodgers and co. at the moment. At the time of writing Liverpool are third in the Premier League table and only two points off of League leaders Arsenal.

The Reds will have particularly enjoyed their 1-0 victory over Manchester United early in September. It was a moment that consolidated all the progress that the club has made. It was when Liverpool announced themselves as ready to challenge for silverware.

There’s a lot of good feeling around Anfield at the moment. The hope is that this good feeling will be converted into success over the course of this season. And why not? Anything’s possible.

Especially if the Reds keep up their momentum.

This is no small challenge in and of itself. If Brendan Rodgers is serious about taking Liverpool to the next level, he may well have to dive into the transfer market once more when January comes around.

As luck would have it, he appears prepared to do so. According to The Mirror, Liverpool are on the hunt for Derby County midfielder Will Hughes and FC Basel’s top winger Mohamed Salah.

Both players are exciting talents and neither would look out of place in this Liverpool side.

Will Hughes is a crafty England U21 midfielder who models himself on the likes of Barcelona stars Andres Iniesta and Xavi. It’s great to see young British talent forgo the usual ‘tough tackling’, ‘hard-hitting’ nonsense and focus on the technical side of their game.

If he continues to develop at the rate he has been, he could blossom into a very special player indeed. Liverpool need a little more creativity in their midfield, so now looks like the right time to strike.

Mohamed Salah is also worth keeping your eye on. The Egyptian has terrorised the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea in Europe over the last couple of seasons. He’s renowned for his pace, his willingness to take people on and his tricky feet. These qualities make him a nightmare for defenders to deal with.

At 21-years-old, he still has some developing to do, but he’d certainly provide the Reds with more cut and thrust down the flanks.

All in all, these two players would make excellent additions to the Reds squad and will further help Brendan Rodgers to transform Liverpool FC. It’s unclear how much they’d cost, but let’s hope the club has money enough!

What’s your take? Should Liverpool complete a double deal for Will Hughes and Mohamed Salah?
