KarimBenzemaDespite a healthy, happy start to the season, Arsenal clearly need to make additions to their squad during the January transfer window.

The Gunners may be flying high at the moment, but it could all come crashing down should Olivier Giroud get injured.

Even if Olivier Giroud stays fit all year, he’s going to need some support. Whilst he’s come on leaps and bounds over the last year, he can’t be expected to score on a weekly basis. Whilst Aaron Ramsey seems to be picking up the slack at the moment, Arsenal need another striker they can turn to when things get tough.

Nicklas Bendtner just isn’t going to cut it I’m afraid.

Arsenal are in the bizarre position of having one of the strongest squads in the Premier League and one of the weakest forward line-ups.

This dichotomy could make or break the club’s season. If Arsenal don’t add to their forward line-up, they could lose out on silverware.

So who should the club look to bring in?

One of the most promising targets must surely be Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema. Despite not having had a particularly strong start to the season, the Frenchman is likely to command a huge price-tag.

The Star even suggest that Arsenal (and Chelsea, who are also interested) would have to pay through the roof to get their hands on the player. They use the following quote from Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti as evidence:

“Benzema is the first-choice striker, but Morata might play against Levante. Though he hasn’t scored, I’m very happy with Benzema.”

They suggest that this quote is an attempt to protect Benzema’s price-tag from devaluation.

Things haven’t been all that bad for Benzema. He has scored 4 goals in 10 games, after all. No doubt he’ll be back to his very best soon enough.

Either way, he’s the kind of player that Arsenal should be looking at. Yes, he’d be pricey, but the Gunners have already proven with their deal for Mesut Ozil that they’re capable of competing on this front.

What’s more, he’d be another belief-boosting signing on a similar level to Ozil, who has already transformed the way that fans interact with the club.

Finally, he’s French. So you have to believe that Arsene Wenger is interested, right? Let’s see if he can make another big deal happen!

What’s your take? Should Arsenal go in for Karim Benzema this January?

Yah has it is said all over the planet that arsenal is the team to watch ,then i agree with the fellow arsenal fans . i see arsenal has got a good sqoud and the manager should try to strengthen our stricking force by making an additional two man strickers at the january transfer window . we should not expect alot from our only stricker oliver giroud and hence i prefer the following to assist our front man 1. Rooney 2.Ba 3 Benzema 4. Saido Beraihno then Suarez if possible .lets give bentner time
