Should Manchester United move in for this £20m prodigy?

Everton FCAt just 19-years-old, Ross Barkley has already managed to attract an inordinate amount of attention. He’s certainly been ear-marked as one for the future and it doesn’t surprise me at all that some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are moving in for him.

Everton are a top side, there’s no doubt about that. They certainly managed to put Chelsea in their place last Saturday. But their stature is such that they will always struggle to keep hold of their best players.

They don’t have the financial resources of clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea, who were able to keep hold of the best players on the way up (and add to them!). That’s why the Toffees had to let Marouane Fellaini move to Manchester United (though, given the fee they got in return, it looks like Everton were the big winners of that deal).

Regardless, Everton fans will hope that their club fights harder to keep hold of Ross Barkley. The English youngster has been with the club since he was just 11-years-old. He’s survived a triple leg-break and has now come back even stronger.

Despite still being a teenager, he’s managed to break into the Everton first team.  He’s already made 5 appearances this season and doesn’t look at all out of place.

His tough tackling, combined with his confidence on the ball and his quick passing make him a real asset. There’s really no telling just how good this kid is going to get.

According to The Star, both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in the youngster.

I can’t say that I’m surprised by Manchester United’s interest. It was David Moyes who gave Barkley his big break at Goodison Park after all. I doubt there’s anybody out there in world football who knows him better.

Having said that, United did just sign Marouane Fellaini. It could be argued that they should be looking to bring in some one a little more creative.

But those concerns don’t alleviate the fact that Barkley is going to blossom into a world-class midfielder. Now’s the time to move in for him.

After all, if Moyes doesn’t act now, Barkley’s price-tag is likely to sky-rocket. The Star suggest Everton would sell for around £20m. That’s already a lot of money.

So let’s hope that David Moyes doesn’t dither this time!

What’s your take? Should Manchester United seal a deal for Ross Barkley?

What a load of Nonsense…….what will happen is that Ross will stay at Everton until he is 24/25 after the has been developed and nurtured and then will be sold to the highest bidder at around £40M…no way are they selling at £20M not a chance in hell..

Harry – you’re a total tit. Why would Everton sell Barclay, especially now, when they don’t need the money, and when his value is a fraction of what it will be in three or four years time? And why to Moyes, who didn’t fancy Barclay at Everton, and who, if events this summef are anything to go by, will offer £3 grand in Monopoly money and one of Fergie’s old Comic Relief red noses?

Ha ha. Kenwright wouldn’t even sell his right leg for that. This is getting boring now.

I’m no bill kenwright fan but even he wouldn’t be stupid enough to sell this lad for 20 million. Expect him to stay a couple more seasons and leave for closer to forty. Talk of him leaving sooner for twenty is complete dreamt up drivel.
