Luis Suarez, you have let us all down

Luis SuarezHi everyone. I know this will never reach its intended recipient, but the past few weeks have made me want to vent so here goes…

Dear Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz,

I don’t know the motives behind your actions and statements of the past month. I don’t know if anything has been lost in translation. I’m not naive enough to believe that contracts and honour mean anything in football these days. Money talks and I don’t pretend to understand the difficulties of being a high profile footballer in the modern day game. but as a Liverpool fan for 30 years, I also cannot pretend that I’m not disappointed with your recent actions.

Firstly, I appreciate we all have dreams. I would jump over hot coals to play football for Liverpool Football Club, for instance. If it is your dream to play for Real Madrid, then so be it. I’m sure it is many people’s dream. It isn’t the fact that you wish to play for Real Madrid that is the problem. I can understand a player of your quality wanting to play in the Champions League. Even as a hardened Liverpool fan, I cannot pretend that we will be competing domestically and in Europe over the next 5 years or so.

I can also understand the turmoil that you and your family must have gone through during various incidents during your time at Liverpool, especially the Patrick Evra incident and the recent Branislav Ivanovic incident.

However as much as I feel that I understand all of the above, I cannot understand the way you and your advisors have gone about engineering a transfer.

You chose to make irregular and unnecessary statements about your desire to leave and your disturbance at Liverpool’s current predicament.

When other team’s fans and players (along with the media) criticised your confrontational attitude and style of play, Liverpool fans embraced you and saw it as a desire and a commitment to win football matches for our team. We loved you for it, we sang your name and we supported you. In the dark days of the Evra incident, the club, the players and the fans stuck by you.

We refused to hang you out to dry like many others. Respected players and club legends such as Jamie Carragher and your captain Steven Gerrard stood up for you and wore t-shirts of support. Indeed the greatest Liverpool FC icon of all time, Kenny Dalglish, probably cost himself his position as team manager, due to his dogged defence of you.

Rightly or wrongly the club defended you and risked tainting the very name of Liverpool FC. So whilst your recent statements haven’t necessarily been totally derogatory towards the club, the frequent nature of them and your desperation to leave the club has left a very sour taste in the mouth for the great majority of Liverpool fans.

We feel let down. The faith and support we showed you has not been reciprocated.

This isn’t a letter begging you to stay, I believe your recent actions have effectively ended your career as a Liverpool player. This is intended to put into perspective the result of those actions and statements. You (as with others before you) had the opportunity to be remembered as a club legend.

Dalglish, Hansen, Callaghan, Gerrard, Carragher, Rush, Fowler. and many many more. You were on the list. A club icon, adored by fans around the world. I hope that wherever you end up, you will be as loved and idolised as you were at Anfield and I hope that in years to come, you can reflect on your career with fond memories of your time at Liverpool.

We will all look back with fond memories of the joy you gave us, but this time will be tainted with disappointment at how things ended.

You see at Liverpool Football Club you will Never EVER Walk Alone.

It’s just a pity that you decided it would be better to run away. Thanks for the impending memories.

    Hello,

I understand how u feel but i also want you to know that Luiz Suarez is the best striker in the world. LFC is also one °ƒ the best team in Europe but a striker like suarez wouldn’t have planned a moved if Realmadrid had not said anything.

Every player wants to play for Madrid and for as long as i know this football business, Suarez should be allowed to move out of England.

Aresenal Sold V. Persie to Man U and when they met, persie finished Arsenal.

Be wise to sell Suarez to Realmadrid so that you can forget worrying when ever you meet Arsenal.

    Hala Madrid

Because of our desperate need for a hero we built him up to being something that he never was. A man with class.

Can’t say we weren’t warned early and often. We just chose to ignore it.

ya on ur bike suarez you disrespectful cunt

  • Tolu Aina says:

suarez, you are indeed a spoilt brat, though you have talent but that is not enough because talent must go with character for you to be successful in life.

  • Herbie says:

I’m fed up with Suarez for all the headaches he’s caused the club and for all his pettiness. The club and supporters stood behind him in his various troubles and now he’s pissing us around forgetting his debt. I personally do not want him to stay and would be pleased to see the back of him. But, I would not sell him to any Premiership rivals but to overseas clubs. If he doesn’t like that then let him remain at LFC and stew is his selfishness.
