Luis Suarez keen on Arsenal, but should Arsenal be keen on him?

Luis-Suarez-1Whilst it’s nice to be wanted, it’s better to attract the attention of worthy people. This raises the question: do Arsenal really want to be attracting players like Luis Suarez?

Now I understand that this kind of question may rile up Liverpool fans. For all his faults, the Reds have stuck by their man and are being punished for doing so this summer. Suarez is another case of a player who isn’t afraid to use the Press and other tactics to force his way out of a club. The worst thing is that he’s still trying to save face with the fans. It’s all a facade.

Liverpool fans have had it bad over the last half-decade or so and now Luis Suarez appears to be rubbing salt into the wounds.

Despite this, Liverpool fans will be sad to see him go. When he wasn’t making a nuisance of himself last year, he was saving games, scoring magical goals and using his tricky feet to unlock defences. Though all the individual plaudits went to Gareth Bale (perhaps because he has a slightly cleaner disciplinary record), Suarez deserved a look in.

Any team would miss Suarez, but with Liverpool’s midfield offering diminishing returns, having an in-form striker is paramount. Should they lose the Uruguayan during the summer transfer window, it will create all kinds of problems for the club.

Now, according to John Cross in The Mirror, Liverpool are ready for Suarez to ask Brendan Rodgers and co. to let him join Arsenal this summer. Whilst Real Madrid are interested in Suarez, they aren’t willing to splash the cash on him and are only willing to pay £25m to make it happen.

Even tight-fisted old Arsenal are willing to offer more than this.

At the start of the summer, Suarez claimed he wanted a move away from England so he could escape the English Press. That’s all well and good, but if he’s flirting with Arsenal in this way, Liverpool fans will not be able to forgive him.

It’s thought that £40m will be enough to make a deal happen. Whether Arsenal should forge ahead, given Suarez’s history, is another question entirely.

My take is that Arsenal can’t afford to grow a moral conscience so far into a silverware free dry-spell. Suarez is the kind of player who has the talent to help his club compete for trophies and that’s exactly what Arsenal need at this moment in time.

It would be churlish to pass this opportunity up, even if it costs them £40m.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal seal a deal for Luis Suarez?

I think Luiz Suarez in unlucky! What he tries to do is something that Ashley Cole, Fabregas, Nasri, Flamini, Robaldo, van Persie have done. Why doe it look like a crime just to suarez. I think, despite whatever Suarez has done on and off the pitch, he is being disregarded. He is free to do what he feels is right for him.

No, no, no. arsenal fans like tradition. Suarez is not suited for Arsenal FC. Besides six matches in and we will have already lost points!

Yes I wenger to sign suarez. He is a good player, these are the kind of players we need to end our trophiless dreams

  • RoyK says:

Suarez created chances last year and scored goals. The downside…. He was one of the worst finishers around. So for 50 mn, anyone is welcome to come and take him. Either someone pays and we spend that to strengthen across the pitch or no one does and he remains our player at least for a year. Period!

Suarez is just the right man to lead arsenal to glory this coming season. When he starts making things happen at the emirates, all his past will be forgotten and believing me he may even become fans favourite. Hurry up Wenger and sign him up.

The only thing i care about is.. He would certainly make us EPL contenders, imagine if he scored those 30goals for us last season.. Anyone know what we could have achieved? Even the 30goals was because he was playing for a side who created chances but no as much as arsenal would create.. I’m not saying this to the delight of anyone, but if suarez joins us.. I can seriously place a bet he’ld get above 27goals in the league and 35 overall. I know we should consider everything about him, but if we(fans) are truely tired of journeying in this trophyless train then i assure you suarez would be the best train station to make a stop
