Can Arsenal really pull off this ‘spectacular’ signing?

suarez-belakangAt the end of last season, Arsenal fans were left hoping that their club would take the next transfer window by storm, make big signings and start the preparation for the coming year – a year that would hopefully bring with it the first piece of major silverware that the club has earned in quite some time.

Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. We’re well into the transfer window now and we’ve heard barely a whimper from the Gunners (with all due respect to Yaya Sanago). Whilst the big signings may still come, Arsene Wenger and co. have forced fans to be very patient.

This was noted by Arsene Wenger himself, who recently told a Press conference in Vietnam: “You want me to announce a spectacular signing, but I can’t. We are working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad, but I can’t give you names.”

As is their want, The Mirror interpreted this quote to mean that Arsenal are ‘working to bring ‘spectacular’ signings to the club’. This is a bit of a stretch, but the fact that Arsenal are working behind the scenes to get deals done is encouraging.

Perhaps Arsenal fans will get the signings they want soon enough.

This brings me to another article from The Mirror, who suggest that Arsene Wenger has made Luis Suarez his No. 1 transfer target. Now I realise that we should take all these stories with a pinch of salt, but if there’s any truth to the claims, fans have every reason to start getting excited.

Luis Suarez would be exactly the kind of ‘spectacular’ signing that the Gunners need to start competing for silverware once more.

Best of all, there seems to be some kind of verisimilitude to this story. We already know that Arsenal had a £30m bid for Suarez turned down last week.

The club must have known at the time that this would not be enough to tempt Liverpool to sell, but clearly wanted to start a dialogue between the two clubs.

Whilst Luis Suarez seems to have his heart set on Real Madrid, the Gunners can offer the Uruguayan Champions League football (providing they get past a qualifying stage), which is more than he gets at Liverpool.

Given that the Gunners are currently flush with cash, they may also be able to offer higher wages than he currently receives at Liverpool,

This deal still looks unlikely to happen, but it grows all the more believable on a daily basis.

What’s your take? Could Arsenal really make a deal happen for Luis Suarez?

I’m sick and tired on the way Arsenal and Arsene Wenger do business. They are indecisive and to fussy over transfers, which has cost them losing out to other teams in the transfer market. I use to respect Wenger but now I despised him for his micro managing and controlling behaviour, which has/is suffocating the football club.

It’s really frustrating how arsenal are dragging their feet in this transfer market, not quite sure wenger and the board are ambitious. Always finding it difficult to bring in quality players even when they claimed to have 70 millions.

Im sick and tired of all these back and forth so called rumors , arsene wenger reds to come to terms with the fact that Liverpool will not drop the price for Suarez especially to their league rivals, pay what they want because he is in my opinion the best striker in the English premier league , add him to our quick and off the mark ball play and we have the best offence in the league, with such speed, do your fans proud wenger, I’ve given you more than the 8 years of stressful support with tears and anger and spirit, it’s time you return the favour and pull your wallet out instead of insisting you left it at home!!

I wish wenger could realize that football has reached a higher level of competition and buy experienced players like Suarez,Williams and Higuain.

When you want to see the latest RUMOURS you google Arsenal Transfer Rumours. And what you get is exactly that- RUMOURS. I don’t understand how people can critisisce when they know that 99% of what they read is pure SPECULATION. Buying footballers is not as easy as – I want him here’s the money let me have him. Grow a F@Cking brain you idiots. MAN U are battling to sign players too BTW.
