Would Lewandowski be a good fit for Chelsea?

1. Bundesliga: Hamburger SV - BV Borussia DortmundRobert Lewandowski has already been subject to several rumours placing him at some of the top of target lists for clubs throughout Europe. The Borussia Dortmund striker had a phenomenal year potting 24 goals in 31 games in the Bundesliga and an astonishing 39 goals in 56 appearances for the Champions League finalists and his national team, Poland. 10 of these goals came in the Champions League, proving he is not afraid of the spotlight. As a result of this amazing year (and the one before it!), his name has been sent around the transfer market and picked up by any team looking for a world class striker.

In late April this year Lewandowski’s agent Maik Barthel spoke with Sport Bild and stated “We are in agreement with a club and have the right to change this summer. All the claims of Dortmund are met.” (Source: Sky Sports) The majority of the sporting world believed that he was following his younger teammate, Mario Gotze and heading to the wealthy Bayern Munich.

This duo would have dominated with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben flanking them. Unfortunately for the Bayern faithful Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director has opened up to the media revealing that “We have communicated to the player and his advisers that we will not allow a transfer to Bayern this summer.” (Goal.com) This is good news for the rest of Europe as the reigning champions will not be beefing up their already strong attack with Lewandowski. It leaves us with the question: where will Lewandowski go?

A likely spot for Lewandowski to land could very well be Stamford Bridge (Source: The Independent). With the Blues having missed out on AS Monaco’s newly signed savior Radamel Falcao it appears Lewandowski may be next in line if Chelsea fails to acquire sought after striker Edison Cavani. Cavani’s style matches Jose Mourinho’s but if he is not able to secure his services, with Chelsea’s fans calling for a big splash in the transfer market this summer, it is likely Mourinho will be looking at the Polish striker. In order for this to work out Chelsea will need to dump some dead weight; Fernando Torres comes to mind.

The addition of Lewandowski will add to an already strong Chelsea side and receiving balls from the likes of Eden Hazard and Juan Mata could do tremendous things for this young lad’s career. It would not be a surprise if Lewandowski was able to score 25+ league goals and add another 10-15 in all competitions. The draw to Chelsea is definitely there because having a manager who wants to win trophies as bad as Mourinho does means he will do whatever it takes to become a champion. A thing Lewandowski missed out on this year and surely will look to change in the upcoming season with a move to his “dream club” (Source: Football- Espana).

I don’t know why Chelsea are showing more interest in Jovetic than in Lewandowski? Lewandowski seems like a more proven striker than Joveshit!
