Finally a Luis Suarez swap deal that Liverpool SHOULD consider:

Arjen RobbenEarlier this week, I commented on the rumours regarding a Real Madrid swap-deal for Luis Suarez. The deal in question proposed that Liverpool might consider accepting Jose Callejon and a heap of cash for their want-away Uruguayan forward.

This, of course, did little to excite Liverpool fans. Yet, I think most Reds have come around to the notion that Suarez needs to be sold this summer. After all, why keep hold of a player who’s unhappy and won’t be pulling in the same direction?

But, there’s no point in selling him if the Reds wont get a good price for him. Jose Callejon, for all his talent, is a Real Madrid reject. Sure he’s had some game-time at the Bernabeu, but he’s not really a hot-ticket player. He’s not somebody who excites fans. He’s no Luis Suarez.

If Brendan Rodgers is to contemplate  a swap deal this summer, he’ll need to make certain the player he brings in is capable of delivering the goods. The incoming player needs to be somebody who creates a bit of excitement and belief around Anfield.

So how about this: in an article titled ‘Bad man & Robben’ (not a bad effort!), The Sun claim that Bayern Munich are keen on signing Suarez and are willing to offer Arjen Robben as part of the deal.

This, at the very least, is an intriguing prospect. Robben is a world-class footballer. He’s technically, gifted, he’s tricky and he’s difficult for defenders to deal with. He’s been a hit at more or less every level and has already tried his feet in the Premier League with Chelsea (where he earned rave reviews).

Yes, he gets a lot of flack for his perceived selfishness, but I think this is a little over-played. Let’s not forget that Arjen Robben has been an integral part of a treble winning side this season. You just can’t pull off that feat when one of your best forwards is pulling in a different direction from the rest of the team. Robben is the real deal and deserves to be treated as such.

He’s also considerably more valuable that Jose Callejon. I’d argue that this is a deal worth considering, especially if Bayern are willing to add a little cash to the deal.

Suarez’s position is becoming untenable. This, I think is a great solution.

What’s your take? Would you swap Suarez for Robben?

Ask yourselves one question would Barcelona get rid of Messi so easily as many of you are proposing we do with Suarez, are not Real Madrid fighting tooth and nail to keep their star asset Ronaldo and even united still want to hang onto some what of a lesser player in Rooney, because they realise that if they don’t build on what they have they will end up like us a seller or feeder club where our top stars are prised away from us by other clubs who have the vision and perception to see and plan for the future. It seems everybody is caught in the fervour and fantasy of spending sixty million pounds on players whom they deem worthy to don the red coveted shirt of Liverpool, but I say to you is Suarez not one of these players if not better, yet he is trying to force his way out of Anfield so how on earth can you expect players of the same calibre and quality to come to Liverpool to replace him. Liverpool are not the power house they once were financially or on the field, yet if we are to rebuild this bastion of football as a famous man once called it we have to do every thing in our power as a club to ensure that we keep our best players. If we sell it seems inevitable that other gems like Coutinho a star in the making will follow suit as we become a push over for rest of the footballing world. Bring back the premiership titles and those glorious European cup winning days by saying no to Suarez and let build a better Liverpool.
