Why it’s time for Liverpool to let go of Luis Suarez:

Luis Suarez

It’s difficult to talk about Liverpool and/or Luis Suarez without attracting a considerable amount of flack. The Reds are a passionate bunch and the Uruguayan is more than a little contentious. It’s little wonder that both attract a wide-range of differing (yet strong) opinions.

But surely even the most narrow-minded Liverpool fan must recognise that there are two sides to Luis Suarez. A disappointing duality that fans have to put up with as a result of him being at the club.

First up, let’s get the postive out the way. When we talk about Luis Suarez, we always need to add the following qualification: he is a fantastic footballer. He deserved to be battling it out with Gareth Bale for Player of the Year last season.

He is one of the most technically gifted players to ever grace the Premier League. His craft and ingenuity make him almost impossible to silence. He seems to trade in magic moments, he’s a game-changer, a winner and on his day, he’s a hero.

Yet, the fact that he other side of his personality gets more media attention is telling. Suarez is a pest. More than that, he seems like a sincerely dislike-able person. I don’t really need to talk about the reasons why. We’ve all heard the stories and we’re all sick of them.

He recently spoke to a radio station in his native Uruguay about his current situation at Liverpool. Speaking to Sport890, he said: “I have a contract with Liverpool. I am happy in Liverpool. I love Liverpool, but this year was very difficult for me, my wife and my daughter.

I’ve already talked with Brendan Rodgers, he knows what I want. He understands my situation. I have a family, a daughter, and I am not prepared to keep enduring the English press.” (via: The Mirror)

Whilst he doesn’t exactly come out and say, ‘I want out’, he’s not mincing his words either. The fact that he’s not willing to ‘endure’ the English press suggests that he’s looking for a way out. For all his faults, he’s always been highly complimentary of Liverpool and the fans. But now, it looks like he’s had enough.

And perhaps the time is right for the club to cut ties? After all, if Suarez still feels like his is a victim (‘enduring’) then it doesn’t strike me that he’s a good fit for a club with Liverpool’s history and reputation.

He’s been heavily linked to Bayern Munich and Real Madrid and both clubs have the money to tempt Brendan Rodgers. If either club offer a decent price, Liverpool should sell.

Then the cash can be reimbursed on somebody with talent and temperament.

What’s your take? Is it time for Liverpool to cash-in on Suarez?

Just another lets get rid of a problem report I disagree that the lad is unlikable in interviews he seems like a passionate, friendly, funny lad who is really enjoying his time at lcf what liverpool and the people around him need to do is find the kid some help when is passion spills over into anger but to get rid of the third best footballer in the world cos he says he doesn’t like the English press (name any footballer/celeb that does when they are being hounded the way luis is) is simply really really stupid

Suarez should leave and let the English with personalities more matching the local mentality, such as Loic Remy and Harry Redknap, that are not as much hated as Suarez. But what else to expect from a society that knights crooks and liars and when confronted with evidence can do nothing else than waiting for them to pass away.

Even if I hate to admit I think it’s time for LFC and Suarez to part ways, He can be replaced at least it’s early in the transfer season so we might get someone good , YNWA

I’d be happy for him to stay but would wish him well if he leaves. Hope most of the Suarez money is thrown at Marco Reus
