Do Arsenal need to sort out their transfer priorities?

Fabregas-BarcelonaUnsurprisingly, given the course of Arsenal’s season, the Gunners have found themselves linked back to ex-player, current Barcelona star, Cesc Fabregas.

With Arsenal failing to secure any silverware again this season and stuck in what seems to be a perpetual battle for fourth place, the fans have grown increasingly restless.

The club is making a lot of money through commercial deals and it’s hoped that this cash will be pumped into the transfer market. As it’s Arsenal we are talking about, we should take all transfer rumours above £10m with a pinch of salt. The fact remains, however, that the Gunners could afford to make a move for Fabregas, if Wenger was that way inclined.

Whilst Arsenal’s midfield is pretty strong, adding a player like Cesc to the fold would make them a more potent attacking force. The thought of Fabregas, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere running things from the centre-of-the-park, is enough to raise the pulse a few beats. We’ve all seen what the 25-year-old could offer.

I do wonder how much Cesc is enjoying himself at the Nou Camp. He’s by no means a nailed on starter (though admittedly, he isn’t the bit-part player that some consider him to be) and looked a little out-of-sorts as Bayern stuffed Barca 3-0 in the second leg of their Champions League show-down. He may well be playing for the club he loves, his boyhood club, but things are far from rosy.

But it has to be understood that any move back to Arsenal is extremely unlikely. Arsene Wenger doesn’t like to re-tread old ground. TalkSPORT recently ran an article titled ‘Fabregas pours cold water on talk of an Arsenal return’. Cesc is about to win his first League title. Why would he want to move back to Arsenal?

The aforementioned TalkSPORT article is based on this quote: “I do not know what is being said and even what is written. I can only say that I alone know my own future.”

Based on this, I can’t see how the source derived their headline. The last sentence seems a little enigmatic to me. Still this whole sordid affair is evidence that Arsenal need to move on. Unless he’s available for a decent price, the Gunners shouldn’t get into a bidding war for Cesc. The odds are stacked to highly against them pulling a move off.

Besides, doesn’t Wenger have over priorities? Like signing a top quality holding midfielder?

What’s your take? Should Arsenal attempt to re-sign Cesc Fabregas this summer?

Having Cesc, Jack and Carzola playing together could be a midfield to watch.Cesc has great vision, can pass the ball thru needle s eye and can score.Building a winning team calls for competition in all positions.Going back for Cesc isn’t going back to the vomit. We jst ve to spend if we re to compete for silver ware
