Arsenal ‘his most likely destination’: should fans be rejoicing?

Julio CesarThere’s long been the feeling that QPR were going to hell in a hand-cart. They’ve been spending money likes it’s going out of fashion and bringing in players with little-to-no interest in competing at the bottom of the Premier League.

Whilst bringing in Harry Redknapp was a smart move, the gaffer has been unable to fix the sinking ship. It surprised nobody when QPR were relegated. Indeed, the great majority of fans seemed to suggest that the London-based club ‘deserved’ to be knocked down a peg.

With all the good players currently at QPR, this provided fans with another reason for wanting Redknapp’s boys to go down. Most of Rangers best players wont want to battle it out in the Championship and will be looking for moves away.

The two hottest players now available are Loic Remy and Julio Cesar. Unfortunately, with all the unseemly news stories surrounding Remy, very few clubs are likely to go after him.

Cesar, on the other hand, is likely to attract a lot of attention. According to The Mirror, Arsenal is the keeper’s most likely destination.

They also claim that Redknapp can’t afford to keep hold of Cesar, who’s currently picking up a £70k-a-week salary. Arsenal, on the other hand, have just sealed a couple of big commercial deals and may fancy splashing the cash.

At 33-years-old, the experienced Brazilian International is among the best goalkeepers in the world on his day. He’s been made to look a lot worse since moving to QPR, thanks to shabby defending in front of him, but he’s still a top quality keeper.

His shot-stopping is fantastic, he’s capable of taking control of his penalty area and he rarely makes mistakes.

The same cannot be said of the trio of keepers currently at Arsenal. Wojciech Szczesny, Vito Mannone and Lukasz Fabianski seem to be competing to see who can commit the most errors.

Whilst Szczesny may still have a future at the club, he needs someone experienced to help guide him to maturity.

This is why signing Cesar would be a smart move for Arsenal. He’d be a quality first team player and a good role-model for the young Pole. And when Szczesny’s ready to step up, Julio should be ready to step down.

There’s no word on price yet, but with QPR seemingly desperate to sell, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were about to see another Arsene Wenger bargain.

What’s your take? Should the Gunners make a move for Julio Cesar?

Its a good thing to have Julio if all works out but we need more players added. I mean more top players added to the team to assure we succeed next season. we really don’t need sagna at all next season,we don’t need ramsey as a regular but he should be in the team,we don’t need Giroud and Podolski as a regular, infact Podolski should be sold,we don’t need metersacker as a regular especially against pacy strikers . We need a right full back like kyle walker, a defensive midfielder like Song or jones, 2 strikers like Jovetic and cavani, centre back like Kosielny, and julio caeser. what more do we need except Wenger and Bould working together like the later part of last season. I pray it works this way.

we don’t want cesar, our keeps are fine, if the defence keeps playing as well as it is there is no need to shake it up

  • GoonerEris says:

Absolutely, YES! I was surprised we didn’t do so earlier once there was the possibility he would leave Inter Milan. A very good keeper, by all standards, commanding in the area, shot stopper and good understanding with his back 4. Take him in, I say.

Of course, that would be a good$reliable signing for Arsenal considering the number of goals against them last season due to keeper’s error.so,Mr Wenger should act fast to help Arsenal$His Job.

  • Raymond says:

The guy is a brilliant goalkeeper, Arsene Wenger should go for him. I will be indeed happy to see this guy in an Arsenal shirt.

  • Chyke says:

The problem ve always been d defenders nt d keepers. We didn’t concede 2 many goals @ d latter part of d season when d defenders put theirs acts togeda. All ur keepers r good. We dn’t need cesar.

  • RICH 4 LIFE says:
