Jordy ClasieWhen it comes to the best young talent in the game, Sir Alex Ferguson always seems to have his finger on the pulse. Most importantly, unlike one of his oldest rivals, Arsene Wenger, he usually has the money make deals for these players happen.

The exception that proves this rule is Lucas Moura, who ended up moving to PSG last summer, despite Manchester United’s interest. I’m sure this loss will have stung Ferguson, but it wont prevent him swooping back into the transfer market should a young player he admires become available. Especially if he’s slightly more affordable.

When a player gets labelled the ‘new Xavi’, he’s likely to attract plenty of attention. With Manchester United looking to replace Paul Scholes over the coming years, they’ll need somebody with a good range of passing and some serious footballing smarts. Jordy Clasie may be just the man, even if he never quite lives up Xavi.

I always think it’s a little unfair when players recieve these labels so young. Players like Xavi cast a long shadow and Clasie has plenty to live up to. Thankfully, Clasie has enough in his locker to suggest he could become a smashing player in his own right and a genuine star at a club like Manchester United.

He’s only 21-years-old, but his quick feet, swift passing and technical ability have already won plenty of plaudits.

The Express claim that Manchester United have a genuine interest in the Dutch youngster, but will face competition from both Arsenal and Tottenham. It looks like the usual suspects are lining up to get their man.

For one of the best young talents in the game, he has a fairly decent price-tag. It’s claimed that he’d cost Manchester United £6.5m, which they’d certainly be able to afford.

Whilst most United fans are pining for another finished model (rather than promising young thing) to join their midfield, I think Clasie would be a smart addition. Manchester United have worked hard to get into a position where they have a good enough squad to win silverware, whilst giving young stars a shot.

Clasie has what it takes and there’s no where better for him to develop and grow than Old Trafford.

What’s your take? Would Jordy Clasie be a smart addition for an already strong Manchester United?
