Should Arsenal really be chasing this Premier League enigma?

remy595One hell of a weird transfer rumour coming right up!

By now, we are all more or less aware of Arsenal’s weaknesses upfront. It’s more or less been the story of their season and it’s cost them any shot they may have had at obtaining silverware.

All this can be traced back to Arsene Wenger’s decision to let Robin Van Persie join Manchester United last summer. As a result, Arsenal are now scrabbling around in the top six, vying for place, whilst Manchester United are running away with the Premier League.

Of course, this could have been dealt with had Wenger’s replacements been cut from a finer cloth. Instead, however he brought in Olivier Giroud, who has had a mixed bag of a season and Lukas Podolski, who has spent most of his time out wide.

Both players look like they can do a job, but neither can do the job Arsenal really need them to do: replace RVP.

With all this in mind, it’s not all that surprising that Arsenal have been linked to a number of different strikers throughout the course of the year. We’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly lined up for a potential move to the Emirates, but nobody really knows who Wenger will swoop for this summer.

The following rumour fits somewhere between ‘bad’ and ‘ugly’.

According to Italian website TuttoMercato (via CaughtOffside), Arsenal are ready to trigger Loic Remy’s price-tag, should QPR fail to stay up this season.

Apparently their are terms in his contract that dictate he can move on this summer, should QPR get relegated and another club offer the right cash. And given QPR’s current position in the Premier League table, there’s a good chance that their will be a few vultures circling around QPR’s corpse; with Remy’s signature one of the big rewards on offer.

So yes, Remy move on this summer and Arsenal need a striker, but this is by no means a match made in heaven.

Yes, the Frenchman was his former club’s top scorer for two seasons in a row, but he’s hardly slotted into English football smoothly. Yes, QPR is something of a pressure cooker, but injuries have really held him back.

3 goals in 6 appearances is not justification for an Arsenal move.

You get the feeling that the only reason this rumour exists, is because Arsene Wenger is always linked to French players. As it is, however, it’s extremely unlikely.

What’s your take? Could Loic Remy end up at Arsenal?

Here is a small lesson for Harry Cloke. Pod and Giroud have qualities that RVP will never have. Pod has a stronger strike. Period. He spits missiles. Giroud is way stronger at holding up the ball and is a whole new ball game in the air. This is what we were asking for when RVP was still with us.
p:s RVP wanted to leave. We didn’t want to sell him. Wenger trained him for eight years, and RVP decided to bail out when things got hard… WEAK. To think you can knock Wenger for RVP leaving is DUMB. How is his present form in Man U???
Giroud and Pod have provided plenty goals and assists and new options up front in their first season. If you’re gunna mention Loic Remy, you don’t have to slip in a knock here and there, you sad twat.
