Liverpool should continue their transfer streak by targeting this La Liga talent:

|

Aly CissokhoWhilst Liverpool have disappointed on a pretty grand scale this season, I think it’s fair to say that the Reds aren’t a million miles away from having a decent squad. With the right additions this summer, Brendan Rodger’s side may even compete for trophies next season.

And Rodgers has already proven that he’s got this whole transfer business down. Whilst his summer additions seemed a little rushed and perhaps poorly thought out, his January transfers seemed to be preordained and have changed the look of the squad.

Daniel Sturridge has proved to be worthy of the shirt in his short time at the club. He’s a real goal threat and has partnered well with Luis Suarez. And then there’s the young Brazilian, Coutinho, who looks to be a genuine talent.

If Brendan continues in a similar vein this summer and makes key purchases in the right areas, who knows what Liverpool could be capable of next season?

This brings me to the French full-back, Aly Cissokho, a player who has been linked to Premier League clubs for many years. The former Lyon defender, current Valencia star has recently spoken about his desire to play in England and his link to Liverpool:

“Liverpool? I have never hidden that the Premier League is the league that attracts me the most. It’s pleasing to see my name linked to that of the Reds. They’re a great club, and not just anyone can wear that shirt. For now, however it is just rumours.” (Source: The Metro).

That, to me, is a little exciting. Cissokho is a player who would fit in perfectly in this Liverpool side and would help to provide the Reds defense with the additional stability that any Premier League side needs.

He has pace to burn and an engine to match. He’ll run up and down the flanks all day and also has an end product. He’s a good crosser of the ball and can also cut in off the wing and trouble opposition defenders.

He cost Valencia just €5m last year (why didn’t English clubs come in for him?) but is only a year into a four year contract in Spain. With the right cash, however, Brendan and his team will be able to persuade Valencia to sell.

And you get the feeling that Cissokho, who is only 25-years-old, would be worth the investment.

What’s your take? Should Liverpool look to seal a deal for this talented French full-back?
