World-class talent available for free – Arsenal would be foolish not to snap him up, right?

|

Even the most ardent Arsenal fan has to admit that this season (thus far) has been something of a mess. For all their endeavour, the Gunners just haven’t gelled together as a unit this year.

There’s been too much turmoil, too many players coming and going. The fact that Arsenal’s best players always seem to move on seems to have sapped morale at North London. The fact that Arsenal don’t compete for the top players any more seems to have affected the belief of the players.

This brings me to Wesley Sneijder, who is, without doubt, a ‘top player’ – a ‘worldie’ if you will. He’s the kind of signing that would bump belief and confidence back into the team. A brilliant talent with the ability to lift Arsenal out of their slump.

The Sun recently ran a story claiming that Inter Milan has made it clear to other clubs that the Dutchman will be available for FREE. Now that sounds like a genuine bargain to me!

After all, he cost Inter £24m back in 2009. Though his stock has fallen at the San Siro, it’s clear he’s still got ‘it’, And at 28-years-old, he’s still got 4-5 years left at the very top of his game. At the moment he’s at his footballing peak – it’s the perfect time for a club like Arsenal to snap him up.

But there’s a problem: Inter Milan are willing to let him leave for free for a reason. They are currently paying him a £200k-a-week salary and are seemingly desperate to get him off their books.

This wage will obviously be a sticking point for plenty of clubs. Whilst the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City can afford to pay that kind of money, would they really want to spend it on this kind of player?

Unfortunately, that kind of money is also way beyond Arsenal’s means. He’d absolutely smash the club’s wage structure and would provide further motive for players like Theo Walcott to try and negotiate bigger contracts.

It strikes me that Sneijder’s greed may be coming back to haunt him. He’s not playing at Inter because of his unwillingness to reduce his wage and he’s not attracting any interest because his wages are too high.

Hopefully Arsenal can find a transfer target who is just as effective, but somewhat cheaper.

What’s your take? Should Arsenal pursue Wesley Sneijder?

There’s nothing to think otherwise! All there is for Arsenal is only to go grab him. I’m sure he’ll b willing to smash down his price once Arsenal asure him of resurrecting his Career!

    Fellow Gooners,

Look at the result today, AFC are carrying more deadwood Ramsey etc, etc, there are NO leaders at 1-1, the very first thing you do a pro is have possession of the ball straight away to see the game out.Sneider class, pay him a sign on fee off 4-5mil, and 100k wk,as long as not injured class and leadership, get rid of ramsey, Daiby(shame), bring in also, M’villa,Lopez or a on form striker, defender M’waipa kochelney is NOT a leader at the back.

The Arsenal i admired most just ended with the unfortunate transfer of RVP to Arsenal’s greatest rival that’s evident even among soccer fans across the globe and in particular Uganda where i live. The answer for this great club is for the club either to show A W the gate, to reshuffle the board, sell off the club to soccer billionaires of the likes of Abramo at Chelsea,Barca, Man city and the like. Short of that my long time positive feelings for the gunners will come to pass. I’ve just watched the FA encounter with Swansea city but i can confess, it was disaster as though Arsenal is now a team fighting relegation. I wish the over sixty thousand fans that watch our guns at the emirates every weekend to help us fight for the glory and prosperity of our flaring, fast attacking and victorious memories during the days of Thiery H, Denis Berkamp, Patric Viera and the like. For how long shall continue to be disappointed-no silver ware and no more to cheer for. It’s indeed disastrous! If A W came out clearly and told us he he can no longer handle, then we say goodbye in peace before the fan base gets seriously depleted even in London. The pride of London has been lost to the likes of Chelsea and Spurs which remain serious threats to the once master of football.

We need one world class CB, LB, RB, DM, CF & A Manager who doesn’t go by what critics or fans say (It is well evident that Giroud,Kos,… are better than Theo,Per.. in the respective positions and he has almost killed the talents of Arshavin, Coqueline… and only a fool can allow a player like Djourou to wear Arsenal shirt for the no of times he had under wenger. Now the same thing happens with Ramsey..)
    So the order is Baines, ….., ……., M’Villa, David.Villa and Martin’o’ Niel..

  • michu says:

what a shit article. “arsenal should buy sneijder, but can’t afford to, so they should buy someone cheaper”
    how fucking stupid and pointless.

  • dude says:

Get rid of ramsey ?? In your dreams , ramsey is wenger’s bitch – with ramsey afc can the UCL .hahahahaha lol woah i need a good laugh

  • sheku Deen says:

What we really need is a perfect striker with all ambition to score. I believe we have outstanding midfielders. So let look for a goal puncher.

  • gunnerst says:

After nearly 8 long years without trophy, the club sold its most prolific scorer of the season, to its WORST challenger man utd, what does that tell you about the club manager? Keep the faith?

  • cameo says:

why cant people see that the problem with this team is ARSENE WENGER.its not about world class players in all areas. how many world class players does swansea have? yet they looked threatening each time they have the ball. i didnt see wenger’s game plan today(and all season) except keep passing. wilshere and carsola bumping into each other, walcot competing with giroud and not helping the defence. while ferguson has been able to evolve with time wenger has continued to slide back into the 80s.trying to emulate barceona without the vision and class has been disastrous for us. gone are the days of class, pace, penetration. quite sad.

  • amjgoonere says:

wenger has bought way to many potentials,to many avcerage signings, cant still call him proffessor, hes more bank manager than football,he is the boards 7mill a year bitch, and we are mugs for putting up with it

  • Docbrody says:

Whose cheaper over 4 years? A player who costs 20 million plus 100k a week? Or a player who is a free transfer and costs 200k per week?

You guessed it. The player who comes on a free is a lot cheaper for the club. Heck, even a player who costs 10 million plus 100k per week is more expensive than Sneijder would be.

  • Walcot is right not to sign coz he has seen the board together AW have lost direction.
