After a rather uninspiring start to their season in a 0-0 draw with Sunderland, I’m sure that most Arsenal fans are looking forward. Forward towards a Sunday clash against a tough Stoke City side and the arrival, one would hope of a couple of new additions to help bolster the squad.

After all, it’s clear that there’s still work to be done to have this squad ready to compete at the top level. The new additions all look like they’re able of contributing over the course of the season, but it’s not clear at the moment that they’re capable of standing in for the departed Robin Van Persie and Alex Song. As a result, most Arsenal fans have their fingers crossed that Arsene Wenger will dip back into the transfer market.

Of particular concern in the Gunner’s defence. It’s here that the Gunners struggled last season. Whilst they displayed their usual attacking swagger, they leaked too many goals and this ended up costing them a shot at any silverware. It’s a little surprising, then, that Arsenal keep getting linked to attacking minded players.

Take for instance, AS’s claims that Arsenal are looking to table a €15m bid for Sevilla winger Jesus Navas. Are we to be worried about the Gunner’s seeming lack of priority, or excited at the possibility of signing somebody who could improve the squad?

It’s claimed that Santi Cazorla has recommended his compatriot to Arsene Wenger, who is looking to test the waters with a bid. It’s an interesting case as he’s very much a one club man. He’s been with Sevilla since he was 18-years-old and he’s now 26. Over the years he has made 350 appearances and become something of a club hero. You can’t help but wonder, however, if he’d fancy a new challenge.

Arsene Wenger, on the other hand, seems to be injecting a little Spanish flavour into his Arsenal side. After signing Mikel Arteta last season, he plucked up Cazorla this summer. Signing Navas may well end up being the icing on the cake. He’s a supreme attacking talent, with pace to burn, excellent close control and a supreme swagger about his game. He’s great at taking people on and creating space for others. That’s how he grabbed 14 assists last season.

I can’t help but feel that he’d be a smart addition for Arsenal. Whether he’s a necessary one is another matter entirely.

What’s your take? Would you take Jesus Navas at the Emirates?

All I know is if Wenger goes for cheaper buys they willbe eposed ie Cygan,Squillachi, etc. Then Arsenal willbe unable to compete and time will be wasted.
For this seaon time is of the essence.

Buy Jesus Navas, M’villa,Mickael Bastos,Hugo Loylis and Jermain Defoe and close the window or else the American Kloenke should quit and we have Usmanov in because football trophies come after proper investments not being conservative all the time. Release Chamack, Bendtner,Park, arshavin ,Sculachi, the two reserve goal keepers in Fabianski and Manone and promote the young Germany player who impressed in pre-season .

are you retarded? if thats how business is done in football, im pretty sure quite alot of teams would have gone into administration by now. we want to sell bendnter asap but its the player holding out for the best deal. no team is meeting arsenal’s demands for chamakh, park and asharvin. Squillaci should be sold b4 end of the transfer window. fabianski would remain our 2nd choice goalkeeper. i dont see wenger buying navas. maybe probably buy M’villa and maybe Mbiwa or a versatile defender.

if he is luckin 4 spanish class y not someone like iker muniain instead of navas

  • mrswoo says:

Jesus Navas is notoriously homesick even within Spain.

He also suffers from panic attacks.

    I think not.

  • John Terry Ate My Wife says:

The guy suffers from the homesickness bug.

No matter how much money is offered, N5 does not look like Spain… he will be another Cesc.

  • Iwodi says:

Aw shld learn 4rm his mistakes of exposin his target 4 so long.We nid jesus navas veri wel,he’s a machine nd hs alot 2 deliver.Get him.

  • Ronnie says:

i think Wenger is building a team and not neccesarily replacing specific individuals. We want players that can complement others in our team by playing to their strenght, this is what teams are all about, therefore signing players like Navas and M’Villa can only improve our team, let’s go for them.

  • Anesh SA says:

This guy will not. Join….homesick charcter. Rumours gettingout of hand.
He is class but we must face. Reality…..

  • Cheadle says:

    Good Article,
Its just the first game so I would not count on any of the results of all the opening matches as indicative of anything. Let them play five rounds of matches and we see how thing shape up
I can still see headlines of SAHIN PASSES ARSENAL MEDICAL…. hah haa haha .. For transfer news i think Ill stick to the BBC

  • Olakunle says:

Leave cheaper buy alone and let talk about senior player(Navas) who can change Arsenal foward. Jesus Navas will be a good buy for Arsenal. Wenger be fast about that.

  • Kingston says:

Do have concerns about this one – he apparently gets very homesick which is why he is/has been a one man club man.

he’s also very slight and i would be concerned whether he could handle the demands of the prem.

Remind you of a previous Spanish signing of ours which for one reason and another never worked out? (aware Henry didn’t help matters)

  • wardy says:

wont happen. the guy suffers from serious home sickness. we would end up with another reyes.
