Could Manchester United really be about to pull off this audacious signing?

|

Back in 2007, Brazilian international Kaka was widely considered to be the best player in the world. He won both the Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year award and amazed fans with his close control, dynamic forward play and unbelievable technical ability.

He was so impressive that Real Madrid were willing to dish out €65m for his services, the third highest fee ever. Since then, his career has continued to blossom and whilst he’s no longer considered to be ‘the best in the world’, he’s still very much up there. He’s one of the most naturally talented footballers still in the game and an important cog in the Real Madrid machine.

Having said that, however, his standing the Bernabeu is tenuous, with players like Mesut Ozil and Xabi Alonse making it difficult for him to nail down a starting role. In 2010-12 he made just 20 appearances. 2011-12 was a considerably better showing for the Brazilian. He made 41 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 8 goals and making 14 assists.

With Madrid looking to tie up a deal for Luka Modric (Source: Daily Mail), Kaka may be worried that things will go back to how they were the season before last. There’s a chance that Kaka would prefer to be at a club where he’d be a nailed on starter without having to look over his shoulder at the competition.

It’s this that I think has fuelled the fire between articles like this at ITV.com. They claim that Manchester United are the ‘new odds-in favourites to sign Real Madrid’s Brazilian superstar Kaka’. Now that’s a signing that would get most Manchester United fans in a tizzy.

Yes, Kaka isn’t the player he was a few seasons ago, but he remains an irrepressible talent. He’s thirty years old now, but given his high technical ability, fans needn’t worry about any potential lack of pace.  He can still carve out a ball in an instance or beat his man. There’s no telling how much he’d cost, but given his age I’m sure he’d be cheaper than he was back in 2009.

He’d provide a lively centre in Manchester United’s midfield and probably make the Red Devils title favourites. So you couldn’t blame Sir Alex Ferguson if he was tempted to make a move.

What’s your take: would Kaka be a smart addition at Old Trafford?

as much of a great addition kaka would be, he wont be coming. Nani, young, scholes, cleverly, kagawa, valencia, fletcher, giggs, the midfueld is crowded already. Cleverly will be better this year. Hopefully no injuries, but he needs games this year for his game to grow.
