Surely Andy Carroll deserves a second chance?

Andy Carroll should be in the first team for Liverpool and for England. That’s a big statement I’m putting out there, but hear me out.

Given that he is the second  most expensive transfer British transfer ever at £35m and has only really fully completed one full season of first team football with a Premiership club – Newcastle – and one season in the Championship for the same club, I think he has done incredibly well. He’s only 23 let’s not forget.

Imagine the pressure that you’re under, with not only the price tag but moving to such a big club as Liverpool. The weight of people’s opinions over the world are place on your every move. He was given a tough start to his career with Liverpool, with the strain holding him back and affecting his mind.

He finally got over it at the end of the season and the last couple of months saw Carroll put in excellent performances for Liverpool including the winner against Everton in the FA Cup Semi-Final, a monumentally massive goal. A goal that Jamie Carragher described as “worth £35m in itself” and went on further to say “that Carroll would be remembered forever.”

Let’s not forget he scored against Everton early on in the season at Goodsion Park as well, his first league goal for Liverpool. Carroll has also scored 2 england goals in 7 caps including a goal in this year’s European Championships.

The terror he brings to opposition teams is huge. No one wants to mess with Carroll and if they do they will more than likely come out the worst, with Carroll smashing in a goal. At  6ft 3 and 12st 4, he’s even more imposing than Hulk (the footballer player of course not the superhero).

Carroll also, in my opinon, has star quality with his long hair and rock star attitude to life, he’s a character, something football could do with more and more of.

Whoever gets Carroll, whether he stays at Liverpool with Brendan Rogers, whether he goes back to Newcastle or goes to West Ham, Fulham or Aston Villa then it will be a massive coup for the Club.

So surely Andy Carroll deserves a second chance at Anfield?
