Premier League Predictions 2012/13: Man City top, Arsenal to miss out on Champions League thanks to Tottenham

|

1)    Manchester City:
Expect the same from the previous champs as their array of talent can improve over the summer transfer window. If former Arsenal players Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri can lure the possible signature of “trophy hunter” Robin Van Persie, they can be a worldwide force to be reckoned with, capable of going the distance, not only in the league, but challenge the likes of Barca and Real Madrid in the Champions League.

2)    Manchester United:
After having a trophyless season and losing the title last year in the final few minutes of the Premier League season, the Red Devils will be looking for revenge against the blue half of Manchester.  A potential £32 million move for Sao Paulo ace Lucas Moura will give fans something to cheer about, but these kinds of heavy spending sprees comes around once in a blue moon. It will be a tough battle between Chelsea and United for 2nd spot but I think the Reds will clinch it as they know how to do the business and the return of Vidic to the team will be a great boost for team moral.

3)    Chelsea:
With a Champions League trophy in the bag and a manager full to the brim with confidence, Chelsea will be hoping for a far superior finish in the league. They would be disappointed to let the recent years of form in the League drop after a 5th place finish gave AVB the boot. Drogba has left Stamford Bridge to go and play in China so that leaves Torres to show how much he is really worth.

4)    Tottenham:
Tottenham is a strange one for me. New boss AVB could mess around with the team, Modric and other top players could look for bigger clubs and they could end up 7th or 8th, or AVB could work a piece of magic, persuade Modric to stay and finish in a Champions League place! After the set back of thinking they had earned a Champions league spot, only to see that Chelsea were automatically entered after winning the cup, their goal must now be to finish in the qualifying spots for the following season.

5)    Arsenal:
The signs aren’t looking good for the Gooners with the possiblility of star player Robin Van Persie leaving for a more ambitious club and so he should as he has seen Nasri, Clichy, Fabregas, Adebayor and Henry all left to achieve trophies elsewhere. However, with the return of Wilshere yet to come, Arsenal will get back a player capable of changing a game. I predict a 5th place finish but it is possible they could snatch the final qualifying spot ahead of Tottenham.

6)    Liverpool:
The 2nd most successful Premier League club ever (after Manchester United) seem to be disappearing into the dark. The years of finishing in the top four and even challenging teams for the title seem to be far past them. After finishing a poor 8th place last season, new manager Brendan Rogers needs to make signings. One man strongly tipped to make the move is Blackburn wonder kid Junior Hoilett. But would he fit into the squad? Where would he play?

7) Everton:
The Toffees should skip playing the first half of the season as they just don’t seem to get the points they need. They play some great football and they’ll be much aided if they can grab back the elusive Pienaar from Spurs scrap pile. With no world quality players in the squad they still manage to finish in some promising positions.

8) Newcastle:
I don’t think Newcastle can keep up the great form from last season but they certainly can finish in a respective position.  They possess great teamwork and a surprising return bid for Andy Carroll may be possible. Alan Pardew will be hoping to keep up the great start to his career with Newcastle United.

9)    Fulham:
If Fulham want to finish in a good position then keeping their star man Clint Dempsey will be a massive boost for them. It seems like all the clubs want to get their hands on the American so, if he was to go, Fulham must try and make the most money possible out of the move. Although they don’t have many class players (with the likes of Pobgrebnyak already gone and the possibility of Dempsey leaving) they have a strong work ethic capable of winning vital points.

10) Stoke:
Stoke are known to many of a football fan as a “hoofing team” a “route 1 team” a “hit and hope team” and a “team that don’t play football” but don’t underestimate them. I highly rate Crouch and Etherington, they’re both capable of causing damage, and for example Crouchy’s goal against Man. City was pure genius. Another mid table finish looks likely for the Potters.

11) Southampton:
New comers to the EPL so they’ve got nothing to lose. I predict a great season for them with a few wins against major clubs just like Swansea did last season. They play some great football and were unlucky to win the Championship. With the new signing of Jay Rodriguez to the squad and hopefully more to come they may too able to surprise teams and establish themselves as a Premier League club.

Wow!What a surprise – for the umpteenth year in a row Arsenal are going to miss out on CL football, the club are in turmoil and the tiny tots are better. How boring. Let’s not forget that we finished third on 70 points, had no Wishere or Diaby, lost Cesc and Nascheat as well(didn’t count Clichy as he is crap)and were 3rd bottom after 8 games. A shame that there can’t be another target for the media bullies who are so predictable, biased and shallow.

    • Lagosboy 2012 says:

This is the most useless and senseless write-up that i ve seen of late in the name of prediction. Please engage your brain in better things rather than this. AVB will shock so many of you.

  • LOL says:

EPIC LOL !! spuds above Arsenal !! ha ha ha ha ! middlefinger to the PREDICTOR !! put it in your arse !!

  • LOL says:

HA HA HA HA !! tottens above Arsenal !! JOKE JOKE !! Here’s my prediction – AVB will be sacked before the season ends !!

  • g00dlaugh says:

Arsenal can’t always be lucky as their luck is bound to run out. Without RVP, 5th would be an over achievement….

  • osila says:

@IceMan. Dnt mind the scum dt wrote dis crap….I guess he’s a “YID”

  • Chris says:

Iceman, your forgetting one thing.. Your losing a player that scored 36 goals last season.

    • Gee Jay says:

Chris, dont state a possibility as a fact. VP still has a year to go, and its up to Arsenal to let him go now (or keep him for the year), after a cost benefit analysis.
Dont gorget that last season lost two very crucial players in Cesc and Samir, and still finished 3rd. A number of players who were still struggling will have jelled together with the team, and we have many players who were injured likely to be raring to go. Remember Arsenal also beat Man. City towards the end of season?

    • gunners357 says:

van persie has not always been there if he didn’t get fit we would have bought another striker and we still would be singing in the champions league like the other 7years without him. we lose players all the time

  • AfricanStarr says:

Dude Arsenal finishing 5th is not possible and why do haters write bogus articles about how bad Arsenal’s situation is……REALLY .All i can say CLASS IS PERMANENT …….WE WILL ALWAYS PROSPER despite the fact that the media predicts our doom.

  • Bert says:

chris – it doesnt matter.podolski+giroud will score 50 goals this season

  • brinso says:

of course, we are the arsenal, and yes we will be in the top four. We dont care which of the ones you mentioned above us you can take out, Spuds, Chavs, muncs or shytti. You know arsenal will always be in there, check the last 14 years. of those, the last 7, morons like you have been saying arsenal will be out of champions league. for 7 years, you have not learnt a thing, mofo

  • Udeme says:

This is fucking Man city cannot carry the league and Arsenal can not be out of top four..Please post another one…..

  • pete says:

seriously? for the past what?…5 years, everyone has predicted that we shall finish 5th or 6th. FFS. give arsenal some credit.

  • maldito049 says:

Who made you the expert that you are today? If we the true gunner fans had to listen and get all strung out by such crap delivered here by you, we will all have some serious ulcers!! How laughable your analysis and predictions belong as what some people say “file 13” absolute trash. And leave RVP out of it, because even he is gone just like all the other backstabbers, $$$hunters and so on before, we will still succeed as a minimum to get that CL spot. You don’t know much about Gunners’ spirit do you? But then again the question is just who are you, what qualifications do you have to write these things here?

  • Hizyco says:

Dis’s how we’ve been reading stupid post lyk dis each yr……if RVP leaves, we may even get beta dan last season cos dsame thing happened wen fab, nasri n clichy all left at dsame time n wilshere was also injured. Keep dreaming…gunners 4 lyf!

  • Gooner says:

@Chris: yeah, RVP won possession from the other team and dribbled it past 11 players into the opposition’s goal. Arsenal has bought a German who has over 100 caps for his international team and a French player who lead his league in scoring. The transfer window isn’t finished yet. AFC is in a better position this summer than the last. COYG

  • gunners357 says:

did a spurs fan write this blog do not be crazy arsenal have moulded in to top four u don’t just get there cause you bought players we have showed that for 15 yrs with complete different teams and a young squad. gooner fans back me up! FOLLOW ME @KYEKYE45

  • Joe Blewett says:

All I was saying was that Man.City, United and chelsea all have strong teams and both tottenham and arsenal will be a tough fight for 4th but, as i said in the article, either side could clip 4th spot. Ok…?

    • John says:

Chelsea a strong team? Really? Yes they have some individually strong Players but they also still have Terry, Lampard, Cole and a weak Manager. Expect them to have a strong start followed by a collapse after a couple of months. RdM will be sacked by Christmas, 5th max.

  • get me right!!!!! says:

    You are crazY

  • It’s a pity that the Joe can write such crap. If you do not like club don’t write about them. I have a filling that Ignorance’s of football is ur problem. Arsenal’s there BEFORE RVP & IT WILL BE THERE AFTER HIM. This is our season the least will be position two. Man city will be position three if they do there best.

  • Leite says:

@Blewett,you really are confused.Arsenal would be third or higher.how about arsenal relegating.*SMH*

  • NQ Live Long says:

no surprise to me, he prolly one of d people dats been posting dsame article for 8 years hoping that it will right someday. u a joke, find a better job maybe start workin at mcdonalds n just give up ur hope cause it aint gon be true; avnt been true d last 8 years, wont be true dis year, will nver be true nxt year n forever. beside i dont see RVP scorin witout bein assistd by top class players and even though Girould didnt av dis players on his former teams last season,he still came out bein d top goal scorer n i see him scorin more goals dan RVP dis season cause dats wat he nos how to.
