Time’s Up – Reasons Why Dalglish Must Go

|

While Liverpool have claimed a Carling Cup in late February, and may still go on to seal an FA Cup in May, there are many reasons why this season has been a disaster, both on the field and off it. With results in the Premiership getting worse as the season creeps towards it’s close, and a series on controversies surrounding the Merseyside club, is it time ‘King Kenny’ stepped aside? Here’s our three main reasons why it’s time for Liverpool to seek a new manager with fresh ambitions.

Being frank, results simply have not been good enough. If the Premiership had started in January, Liverpool found find themselves bottom of the lot. Surely not even the most ardent of Reds can argue that this is acceptable for a club of their notable stature. The last two defeats at the hands of teams woefully short of form and in the bottom three, QPR and Wigan, is a microcosm of Liverpool’s league season. They might have claimed impressive victories along the way, such as a Stamford Bridge success, but this is all un-done by horrific results to sides below them. They have now lost to 3 of the bottom 4 sides. As is the way in modern football, the buck stops with the manager, and Dalglish must be responsible for a dreadful season in the Premiership.

The season has also been off-set by a string of media and PR errors from the club. Dalglish’s handling of the whole ‘Suarez and Evra’ scenario was disgraceful, labelling racism as ‘banter’ and continuing to shift blame and defend his player even when the case had been proved. Aside from that, the Liverpool manager’s interviews are slowly starting to insult football fans intelligence across the country, and Liverpool supporters must be growing tired of his poor excuses.

Blaming the Wigan reverse on ‘tired’ players after 3 games in 6 days was the musings of a man searching to blame anything but himself or his players. Many other Premiership sides had played the same amount of game, including Chelsea, Spurs and City. He then went on to say he wouldn’t push youngsters in the fill the gaps, just minutes after he had handed Raheem Sterling a debut during the Wigan game. Such hypocrisy has unfortunately been a feature of his interviews throughout the whole season, and another reason why he should exit his post, for the good of the game.

Quite simply, Kenny Dalglish is horribly out of touch with the game. His spending on young, over-priced English talent was an example of this. Henderson, Carroll and Downing have failed to come up trumps when needed, and there would’ve been so many more option had Dalglish and Liverpool looked abroad, with Newcastle’s success in the transfer market in France and Italy showing this. Furthermore, his stoic belief that double domestic cup success would mean finishing 7th is a good season is again out-dated. Liverpool have such a rich tradition in European football, they deserve to return to at least one of the competitions. Yet, with Dalglish in charge, it appears that he has no intentions of targetting a return to the Champions League, and I dare say that the club’s fans do not share this vision for their side.

The man is correct; I forecast when KK was taken on that he would fail,he did very little during his first stint. That success was due mainly to Paisley who was showing him the ropes for the first 3years.Then he left an ailing squad for the next manager! Ray Harford did it for him at Blackburn, and he failed at Newcastle & Celtic!!!
His appointment this time was always going to end in tears, and he is also ruining his record as a player!

  • Pal says:

    Nicely said Damo!

This is an biased article from a rival fan. What else can we expect? Haa..

  • Lfc red says:

Aitkenhead. Mmmm have you got your name right. The evra case proved Suarez wasn’t racist if you read the case . But oh no you didn’t do this but still comment on it. Kenny stays next year and proves his judgement right or wrong . One season with cup success is not enough. Next year we can judge him then.

  • marco says:

  • steve mcauley says:

Kenny Dalglish would be the first to say that no individual is bigger than Lfc and for me, that must include the legend that is ‘king kenny’! Although I would stop short of calling for his sacking, I would urge kenny HIMSELF to hold his hands up and do the right thing by moving upstairs allowing someone with fresh ideas to move us forward!
Prersonally i would have went for martin o’neill when rafa went, alas i think that ship has sailed now that he’s at the club he supported.
On the playing side of things, i would like to see us to take a chance on the likes of young jordan rhodes, anyone who can score 35 goals, regardless of the level, knows where the net is! our current crop couldn’t find a net on a fishing boat! In today’s market 5 or 6 million is nothing, so take a punt!

  • Harry Aitkenhead says:

Liverpool fans are so deluded that it is having an adverse effect on their club. Suarez was proven to have called Evra a ‘negro’ more than one and in today’s society that is racist, plain and simple. Get your facts right before picking a debate. Also to label my article as biased is wrong, look at the facts. Liverpool aren’t in the Champions League, they aren’t looking like qualifying for it any time soon, and they’re in terrible, terrible league form.
