2. Thomas Muller

According to reports from Mirror Football, Chelsea are eyeing Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller as a potential replacement for Diego Costa.

The 26-year-old is one of the most talented and unique attacking threats throughout world football, famed for his ability to perform well in any position across the middle or final third whilst producing a consistent supply of goals.

Indeed, the offensive all-rounder’s mix of physicality, technical flair and netting prowess has seen him claim 141 goals in 325 appearances for the Bavarians – including 20 strikes this season.

Manchester United’s interest in the German international is well-known. They reportedly saw a £88million bid rejected during the summer and were linked once again last week, amid news that the 6 foot 1 forward is stalling on a contract extension at the Allianz Arena.

But according to Mirror Football, the Red Devils now face fresh competition in the race for Muller’s signature from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The Blues are considering potential replacements for Diego Costa, whose future at Stamford Bridge is reportedly under review after scoring just four goals since the start of the season, with the view to making a signing either in January or the summer.

Muller more than fits the bill, but whether the Bavarians would actually sell their World Cup-winning academy product remains another issue.
