Sadio Mane

According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Louis van Gaal has ‘insisted’ Manchester United sign Southampton star Sadio Mane ‘as soon as possible’.

The Senegal international was unexpectedly linked with an Old Trafford switch during the summer following a debut Premier League campaign in which he netted ten times in 30 appearances – including a three-minute hat-trick against Aston Villa in May.

The 23 year-old has been in good form again this season, grabbing two goals and four assists in seven starts, and particularly impressed against Chelsea last Saturday, scoring one and setting up another.

Reports earlier this week revealed United are expected to launch another bid for Mane after seeing their £15million offer snubbed by Saints boss Ronald Koeman during the summer.

But The Express, citing Spanish publication Fichajes, go one step further in claiming Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal has ‘insisted’ United sign the 5 foot 9 attacker as soon as possible – suggesting a bid will be launched in the January transfer window.

Hope they have got getting towards £100 million, shame they can no longer develop their own players. Also hope they don’t try and throw in the over rated Rooney.
