Moose SissokoAs most of you will be aware, The Gunners are smack-bang in the middle of an injury-crisis, with their midfield particularly badly affected. Arsenal looked completely out of sorts at the weekend, especially in the centre-of-the-park. Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain clearly wasn’t fit and Mathieu Flamini struggled to keep up with the pace of the game. Only Santi Cazorla covered himself in any glory.

How Arsenal are missing the likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta. That’s their entire crop of first team midfielders.

This has led to some speculation as to whether Arsene Wenger will look to bring in another body in this area during the January transfer window. One player they’ve been strongly linked to is Newcastle United’s dynamic midfield presence, Moussa Sissoko. Could he be the answer to their prayers?

As it happens, The Metro carries quotes from the player. He clearly holds a lot of affinity for The Gunners:

‘When I was young, Arsenal were my favourite team. My idol, Patrick Vieira, played there. I have always loved that club. I still love that club. My aim is to play in the best clubs, play the Champions League, win trophies.’

That being said, there’s no evidence to suggest that a deal could happen any time soon. Check out these further comments from Sissoko:

‘I’m a Magpie and I’m very happy. There haven’t been any offers. So I’ll be at Newcastle until the end of the season. After that, we’ll see.’

The aforementioned source suggests that Moussa Sissoko could be available for around £15m. That’s no small chunk of change, but if Arsene Wenger feels that the Frenchman would add some strength and depth to his midfield, then it’s a price worth paying.

It’s not like Abou Diaby is going to be back any time soon. With all of Arsenal’s other injury issues, it’s time to start looking at other options.

What’s your take? Should Arsene Wenger consider making a move for Newcastle United phenom, Moussa Sissoko?
