Why Liverpool HAVE to sign this £14m bargain:

With Luis Suarez jetting off to Barcelona this summer, The Reds will need to search far and wide for a replacement. As the Premier League’s best player last season and one of the best players to ever put on a Liverpool shirt (or any shirt, for that matter), replacing him won’t be an easy task.

Whilst Brendan Rodgers will have plenty of cash to work with, I don’t envy his position. Suarez’s exit has made it very difficult for Liverpool to come back stronger next year. After a year where so much progress was made, there’s a chance that The Reds will slip backwards again next year.

That being said, there’s no doubt that Brendan Rodgers is a smart cookie. He knows how to play the transfer market and could well bring in the players necessary to steady the Liverpool ship. There’s no need to despair quite yet.

This brings me to Liverpool’s interest in AC Milan star, Mario Balotelli. The Italian wildcard is one of football’s most prolific strikers, but he’s also somewhat difficult to manage. Remind you of anybody?

Earlier this summer, Mario Balotelli was believed to have a £30m price-tag. That kind of price may have scared The Reds off, but The Metro recently published an article suggesting that Milan may be willing to sell for as little as £14m.

Given that he’s just 23-year-old, has experience at every level and has a good goal-scoring record, this strikes me as a genuine bargain. It’s rare to find world-class talent available at this kind of price. Liverpool shouldn’t let this opportunity slip through their grasp.

During his two seasons at AC Milan, he’s scored 30 goals in 54 appearances. For Italy, he’s scored 13 goals in 33 appearances. He’s clearly a good finisher and I’m sure he’d help to lessen the blow of losing Luis Suarez. Brendan Rodgers has plenty of money to spend this summer, I just hope that he sets aside some cash for Mario Balotelli.
