Loic Remy With Liverpool on the hunt for a replacement for Luis Suarez, it’s worth recognize that pretty much any player that’s brought in this summer is going to look like a damp squib in comparison to the fleet-footed Uruguayan. Suarez is one of the best players of the Premier League era. He’s one of the best players to have ever thrown on a Liverpool shirt. It’s nigh on impossible to replace somebody like that.

But Brendan Rodgers will have to take a good stab at this task this summer. I just hope he doesn’t get crucified for his efforts.

After all, there’s no doubting his credentials in the transfer market. Brendan’s brought in players like Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho for bargain prices, so there’s every reason to believe he’ll be able to find a good striker (or two) to help lessen the blow of losing Suarez.

This brings me to Liverpool’s links to Queens Park Rangers’ French striker, Loic Remy. Whilst he’s not as good as Luis Suarez, it does strike me that he’s a good option in his own right. He’s the kind of player who would add depth to Liverpool’s squad, without breaking the bank.

A strike-force that includes both Daniel Sturridge and Loic Remy is sure to carry plenty of threat. Between them, they’ve got plenty of pace, technique and goal-scoring nous.

Last season, whilst out on loan at Newcastle United, Loic Remy found the back of the net 14 times in 27 games. Imagine what he could achieve playing in front of the likes of Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho.

The Mirror suggests that Liverpool could be able to secure Loic Remy for as little as £8.5m, by triggering his release clause. That’s a bargain price for a top player.

I’m sure Liverpool fans will want to see their clubs make ‘bigger’ signings, but there’s no point turning your nose up at deals like this. Players like Loic Remy could be exactly what The Reds need to compete on multiple fronts next year.

What’s your take? Is Loic Remy the right choice for Liverpool? Should The Reds be looking at other options?
