Xherdan ShaqiriLiverpool have already brought in Lazar Markovic to try and lessen the blow of losing Luis Suarez, but I doubt that Brendan Rodgers is going to stop there.

Brendan will be well aware of exactly how important the Uruguayan superstar was to this Liverpool side. Without him The Reds could come up short on the attacking front next season. Players like Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic are going to help to redress this balance, but I can’t be alone in hoping that there are more additions making their way to Anfield this summer.

The more attacking options The Reds have, the more likely they’re to come back even stronger next season. Given that they’ll also have Champions League football to contend with next year, adding more depth to their squad is damn near essential.

With Liverpool continuing to get linked to exciting players, there’s every reason to believe that more deals are incoming. For instance, could The Reds be about to wrap up a deal for Bayern Munich’s tasty Swiss winger, Xherdan Shaqiri?

The Metro recently ran an article carrying the following quotes from Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Matthias Sammer: “Xherdan is an important player for the future. There are no thoughts at all about selling him.”

To many, this was interpreted as evidence that Shaqiri has the full backing of his club. But it’s also worth noting that Shaqiri posted a response to Sammer’s quotes on Twitter: ‘I live in present… Not in future….;-)’. Cryptic stuff, eh?

Whilst there are multiple ways to interpret these quotes, The Metro suggests that this means Xherdan Shaqiri is ready to leave the Allianz Arena in search of first-team football. If that’s really the case, the door could be wide open for The Reds to swoop in and finally swipe him up.

CaughtOffside claim that Xherdan Shaqiri has a £15m price-tag. If that’s the case, then Brendan Rodgers and co. should have more than enough money to wrap this deal up. Shaqiri would add depth to Liverpool’s attack and would seriously lessen the blow of losing Luis Suarez. He’s a star in the making and I’d love to see him ply his trade at Anfield.

What’s your take? Is Xherdan Shaqiri looking for a new challenge? Would he fit in at Liverpool?
