Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Erik ten Hag may well be on the lookout for a new striker once the next window opens as Wout Weghorst’s current loan deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
With that in mind, it has been revealed that the Red Devils have set their sights on securing a deal for a centre-forward currently making a name for himself as a top goalscorer.
According to a recent report from Ekstra Bladet (via Sport Witness), United have Hojlund on their radar and that there is a belief that big clubs across Europe will look to sign him this summer.
The report also adds that the striker, who has previously shared that he is a fan of the Old Trafford outfit, is apparently valued between £23m-£31m.
After scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances for Austrian side Sturm Graz, the 20-year-old joined Atalanta back in the previous summer transfer window, which has led to him finding the net eight times in 25 appearances across all competitions this season.
Hojlund recently made headlines as he scored a hat-trick in Denmark’s recent 3-1 win over Finland, in addition to making two key passes and winning all three of the aerial duels he was involved in.
Do you think Man United will sign a striker this summer?
Despite only being a fairly new addition to Atalanta’s squad, manager Gian Piero Gasperini has shared his thoughts on the player including his strengths and what the future could hold for him.
He said: “He is a very fast player, he does the 100 meters in less than 11 seconds. For his height, he has a low centre of gravity and an incredible stride frequency. I’m convinced he will have a great career. Technically, he always shows different and better things.”
With all of that taken into account, we feel that if the young centre-forward has a strong end to the season with more goals to his tally, United should definitely consider launching a move to sign him in the summer.
