Former Premier League player Alan Hutton has shared his verdict on Tammy Abraham amid recent transfer links to Manchester United.
It was reported this week that Abraham, alongside Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, is among the Red Devils’ transfer targets for the upcoming summer window.
This has now led to Hutton – a former teammate of the Englishman – sharing his assessment of the player and a potential move to Old Trafford.
Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said this about Abraham and the possibility of him joining United:
“I really like him. I worked with him at Aston Villa, so I’ve seen him up close and personal. Not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. On the training ground, he works so hard to improve daily.
“He could do so well at a team like Man United, where they’re so in need of a number nine like him. He wouldn’t cost as much as Osimhen, and I think Tammy has got the right experience to fit in and do well at Old Trafford.”
After making 82 senior appearances for Chelsea, across which he scored 30 goals, the striker joined AS Roma back in the 2021 summer transfer window.
Since then, the 25-year-old has found the net 34 times in 87 appearances for the Italian club, where he has been playing under former United manager Jose Mourinho.
Who would you rather see Man United sign this summer?
Tammy Abraham
Victor Osimhen
With the Red Devils also having a reported interest in Osimhen, it has been claimed that the Napoli striker could be too expensive for the Old Trafford outfit to sign this summer.
This season has seen Abraham score six goals and provide four assists in 25 Serie A appearances, racking up the third-highest total of shots on target (23) in the division.
Given the experience the striker has of playing and scoring in England, including finding the net 26 times in 40 appearances for Villa alongside Hutton during his loan spell there in the 2018/19 season, this could work in United’s favour should they end up signing Abraham this summer.
