Newcastle United are reportedly looking to join the race to land a potential summer transfer deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
The Englishman has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs over recent weeks and months such as Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool.
Now though, it has been claimed that another top-flight side are looking to put themselves at the table to try and sign the midfielder.
According to a recent report from Sport BILD (via Sport Witness) Newcastle are looking to put themselves in the mix to sign Bellingham in the summer.
At the age of 19, the player has featured 114 times for his current side across all competitions after making 44 senior appearances for his boyhood club Birmingham City.
During his time in Germany, the teenager has scored 20 goals, provided 22 assists and show how much of a crucial player he is for them.
Specifically, with 17 Bundesliga appearances to his name this season, the England international has made more progressive passes (101) and shots at goal (34) than any of his teammates as well as having the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions at the club (76).
Should Newcastle try and sign Jude Bellingham in the summer?
Yes
No
The youngster also showed his talent for England during the recent World Cup, where his overall performances earned him a tournament rating of 7.58/10 from WhoScored, making him the second-highest-rated player in the squad behind Bukayo Saka (7.68/10).
Hailed as an “exceptional” player by Jurgen Klopp, Bellingham has also been described as a “Rolls-Royce” of a midfielder by journalist Mark Douglas.
Meanwhile, England teammate and Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has noted that although he’d love to see the midfielder on Tyneside, he would be ‘very expensive‘.
With Dortmund reportedly looking to pick up at least £100m for their star midfielder, it would certainly be a significant investment from Newcastle and PIF if they do look to sign him in the summer.
However, given his age and the clear talent he has, it’s definitely an investment worth considering for the Toon in our view.
