Chelsea have reportedly identified Brentford manager Thomas Frank as a potential replacement for under-fire Blues boss Graham Potter.
Following a string of disappointing results, Potter has found himself under pressure at Stamford Bridge.
Despite reports suggesting that the 47-year-old still has the backing of the club and its hierarchy, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding who Chelsea see as a suitable potential replacement for Potter.
According to a recent report from Football Insider, Chelsea are admirers of Frank as well as his playing style, relationship with the media, and track record of developing young players into Premier League stars.
The report also adds that Todd Boehly still wants Potter to oversee a long-term project at the west London club, but Frank is seen as a desirable contingency option and is now a top contender to be the next manager.
Since being appointed as Brentford’s manager back in October 2018, the Dane has taken charge of 217 games with the Bees across all competitions, winning 99, drawing 50 and losing 68 along the way.
After getting the club out of the Championship at the end of the 2020/21 season, Frank took his side to a 13th place finish in the Premier League having won 13 of their 38 games last term, drawing seven and losing 18.

This season has seen the Bees win eight of their 23 matches, some of which have come against the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.
In terms of Brentford’s strengths under Frank, who Mikel Arteta described as doing a “remarkable” job at the club, WhoScored label some of them as their ability to create and finish scoring chances.
Bearing in mind how Chelsea have only been able to score three goals in their past eight Premier League games, it’s safe to say that a manager like the 49-year-old could be just what the Blues need at this moment in time.
Moving forward, should the Stamford Bridge hierarchy decide to pull the plug on Potter, bringing in the Brentford boss would definitely be a suitable option for them to hire and hopefully see get the team on track.
