Former Premier League player and talkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy has shared his praise for Arsenal’s January transfer moves for Leandro Trossard and Jorginho.

Throughout the previous January window, the Gunners were after Mykhaylo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo but failed to land either of them.

In the end, the north London club signed Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of £27m and Jorginho from Chelsea for £12m.

Where did Arsenal sign these players from, let's start with an easy one! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

With both players now having some weeks and appearances under their belts as Arsenal players, the club have found themselves being praised for the business last month.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy had this to say about Arsenal’s moves for the duo.

He said: “I think they’ve been two brilliant signings in that they weren’t their first-choice targets. What it shows is that they had a really good plan B, they were ready with plan B and that’s down to the recruitment so fair play to them for that, I’m sure Arteta was heavily involved.

“They’ve gone for two players, who are already proven in the Premier League. Two technically very good players, intelligent footballers so they can adapt to different positions and different formations.

“I think they’re a great bit of business and if they do win the league, that bit of business will be part of their success.”

With six Premier League to his name for Mikel Arteta’s side, the Belgian attacker has scored one goal, which came during their 1-1 draw against Brentford, and delivered one assist, which helped the Gunners secure a 1-0 win over Leicester City last weekend.

Have you been impressed with Trossard and Jorginho so far?

As for Jorginho, the midfielder has made four league appearances for his new side, earning himself an overall performance rating of 6.8/10 from WhoScored, which is higher than the likes of Ben White (6.78/10) and William Saliba (6.73/10).

Having also been involved in a crucial goal against Aston Villa earlier this month, it’s safe to say that both players have had instant and important impacts for Arsenal.

Taking all of this into account, we feel that Murphy’s praise for the Gunners’ moves for Trossard and Jorginho is justified and shows how efficient the club were in the January market after missing out on their two main targets.
