Wolves may sign “half a dozen” players

Wolverhampton Wanderers may complete a substantial amount of signings this month, according to reporter Alex Crook.

The Old Gold have already been active in the transfer window, with Matheus Cunha and Mario Lemina both arriving this month.

However, Crook has claimed that number is set to rise, with Julen Lopetegui insistent that more quality should be added to the Wolves squad to avoid relegation.

The Molineux side have turned a corner under the Spaniard, with seven points from their previous four league games seeing Wolves jump out of the bottom three.

But with a long way to go in the season, Wolves know they’re far from safe, with Crook telling GiveMeSport that they want to add more to secure their top-flight status, saying:

“I think they want to strengthen in all areas again. I was told they could bring in up to half a dozen players in this window.

“I think part of the convincing process when it came to getting Lopetegui was that he would be backed in this transfer window.”

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

Naturally, Wolves, as any team in their position would want to do, will likely use their financial means to strengthen, with nothing seemingly being left to chance later on in the season.

The high-profile arrival of Lopetegui will almost definitely have something to do with the incomings as well, with the former Spain, Real Madrid and Sevilla manager likely to be far from content with the state of the Wolves side he’s inherited.

The Midlanders also seem to be going through a transitional period, with stalwart Romain Saiss leaving in the summer and Conor Coady departing on loan, alongside the potential departures of Adama Traore and Joao Moutinho, who both see their deals expire in the summer.

It gives the chance for Lopetegui to put his stamp on the squad. With a manager of his reputation a great coup from Wolves to acquire in the first place, they’ll want to give him all the tools he requires to take the Old Gold back towards the European places.
