West Ham United are considering a loan move for Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire, according to a new report.

Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Man United this season, starting just one of the last six games he’s been available for in the Premier League, and speculation has developed about the captain leaving the club.

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has urged the likes of West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United to make a move for the defender, adding that he would be a ‘brilliant addition’ for any of those teams, and now the Hammers appear to be weighing it up.

According to a report from the Mirror, David Moyes’ side are considering a move to sign the 29-year-old on loan, as the manager continues to look at strengthening in the centre-back area.

It is claimed that the Englishman is being looked at as a potential replacement for Craig Dawson, with Wolverhampton Wanderers ready to return to the table for talks, despite having a previous bid turned down.

TIF thoughts on Harry Maguire to West Ham United…

The former Leicester City man has faced regular criticism for his performances in a Manchester United shirt , so much so that he has admitted it is difficult to block out the critics, but he once again proved how good he can be for England at the World Cup.

Hailed as having an ‘incredible mentality’ by England teammate John Stones, the centre-back was ranked as the Three Lions’ joint-second best performer in the whole tournament, averaging a match rating of 7.34, so it is clear that he has the ability to perform at a very high level.

While Maguire’s Man United career has not gone how he would have liked, his displays for his national side prove that he would still have a lot to offer West Ham, and he would not just be a replacement for Dawson, but a real upgrade on the 32-year-old.
