Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Nottingham Forest’s reported pursuit of Palmeiras midfielder Danilo.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Midlands club are interested in landing a transfer deal for the Brazilian this month.

With some days having passed since then, some details have emerged regarding Forest’s attempts to secure a move for the 21-year-old.

In a recent Twitter post, Romano had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Nottingham Forest are working on the documents of Danilo deal — medical could take place this weekend, if all goes to plan.”

Despite still being a fairly young player, the midfielder has made 141 senior appearances for his current club across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists along the way.

His latest season in Brazil saw the midfielder not only win the league with Palmeiras but also show how much of an impressive player he is.

For example, in addition to having the fourth-highest total of shot-creating actions (80) at the club, he has also shown how effective he is off the ball by racking up the second-highest number of successful tackles (40).

Bearing in mind how Steve Cooper’s side have the second-lowest number shot-creating actions (288) in the Premier League this season but the highest percentage of dribblers tackled (60.3%), it’s easy to see why they are keen to add a player like Danilo to their ranks that can help them be a deadlier attacking side but could also make them stronger defensively.

Taking what Romano has said in his Twitter post into account, it seems that Forest could well be getting their hands on Danilo at some point this month.

Overall, if the Reds are able to secure a deal for the Brazilian prodigy in the coming days and weeks, this would surely have lots of Forest fans excited given the talent he has and the potential within him to become an important long-term figure at the club.
