Nottingham Forest: Image suggests Morgan Gibbs-White may have been offside for winning goal

|

VAR may have made a big mistake in the most recent Nottingham Forest match after awarding a goal that may well have been offside.

Steve Cooper’s men managed to make sure they won’t spend Christmas at the bottom of the table with an important win in the Premier League yesterday.

Indeed, a single goal from Morgan Gibbs-White was enough to see Forest claim a narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. That effort was initially flagged offside only for VAR to overturn the call.

However, a new image shared online shows just how close the decision was, and suggests perhaps that the Nottingham Forest man was potentially offside.

TIF thoughts on the incident and Forest…

Seeing as that was the only goal of the game, it certainly was a pivotal moment and Forest fans can perhaps count themselves a bit lucky that the decision went their way.

In the end though, this big call went in their favour with VAR obviously feeling as though Gibbs-White was just played onside by a Palace defender.

That result will do a world of good to Cooper’s side heading into the winter break. Indeed, it leaves them in 18th in the league, just one place and one point from safety. If they do avoid the drop, a goal like this may be remembered as a turning point in their season.
